Freeway is being faced with yet another an insurmountable tragedy after his 21-year-old daughter Harmony lost her battle with cancer. The Philly rapper announced the life-altering news on Sunday (October 24) and expressed how much pain he was in as he grapples with her untimely passing.
“You know the saying sugar and spice and everything nice, well that’s my Harmony!” he wrote alongside a video of her dancing. “I promise y’all she was the sweetest most kind most caring generous loving adorable person I know. Allah Really blessed me putting her in my life. I love her so much and this hurts so bad.
“This video was February of this year on her 21st birthday. Even though she was fighting cancer she was always happy and always smiling and she always brightened up my day. The only thing that’s giving me comfort is I know 100% that she believes in Allah and she was a good person. I truly believe she has everything it takes to enter into heaven.”
Freeway, who has faced serious health problems in the past, continued to ask for support from his tribe, which he got in droves.
“Please keep her in your prayers & please ask God to show her comfort and mercy,” he added. “Listen Life & Death is very real! cherish your love ones & keep them close to you because you never know, we are not promised our next breath. She truly was my best friend and I don’t know what I’m gonna do this pain is unimaginable.”
Rapsody was one of the first offer Freeway her condolences, writing, “love and prayers in abundance, Free……for comfort, healing, and everything you and your family need,” while Bun B offered, “Sending you all my love and prayers.” Meanwhile, Outkast legend Big Boi shared a simple prayer hands emoji as did Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Shyheim The Rugged Child.
Compounding the crushing loss is the fact Freeway already lost his son Jihad nearly a year to the day in October 2020. His sentiments at the time were similar to how he’s feeling now.
“God knows I try my best to be strong, but this right here is a pain like I never felt, Please cherish your time and your love ones because we’re not promise the next breath,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “I Pray Allah forgives my son for all Of his sins and I pray that Allah grants him the highest level of paradise. Ameen. Please make dua for him & my family.”
Freeway rose to notoriety in the 2000s as a member of State Property and their run at Roc-A-Fella Records alongside label head JAY-Z. Freeway was briefly signed to Cash Money Records in 2009 but returned to Roc Nation with his 2018 album Think Free.
HipHopDX sends our condolences to Freeway and his family.
