Even with the 2009 Rihanna assault, Chris Brown’s career has continued to flourish. On Wednesday (August 26), the longtime R&B singer took to Instagram and excitedly posted about his latest victory. According to the graphic, Brown’s video for “Loyal” featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga has surpassed over one billion YouTube views.
“TEAM BREEZY!!” he wrote in all caps. “YALL DID IT!!!!!! THE MOST DEDICATED FAN BASE (FAMILY) THIS IS MY FIRST BILLION VIEWS! (DIRECTED BY BREEZY) WOW. I LOVE YALL TO DEATH.”
“Loyal” arrived in March 2014, serving as the fourth single from his sixth studio album X. Produced by Nic Nac and Mark Kragen, the track came with two versions — French Montana pops up alongside Weezy on the East Coast version, while Too $hort is included on the West Coast version.
Although the song initially debuted at No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100, it eventually peaked at No. 9 and remained on the chart for 36 weeks. It marked Brown’s 10th Top 10 single and has since been certified 3x-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
In terms of the visual, Usher, Trey Songz and Ty Dolla $ign also make cameo appearances.
