Book Review – Let Love Have The Last Word…. A Memoir By Common

Recently I’ve read this fine memoir by Common called “Let Love Have The Last Word” .

I personally love this book ’cause it’s really easy to connect to some of his thoughts , Common says that women are divine as we should cherish them and love them forever and I agree to that.

On the book itself Common reveals his reflection of love and he quote :

“It is not just a declaration, It is a statement of purpose, a daily promise. Love is the most powerful force on the planet and ultimately, the way you love determines who you are and how you experience life”

Common talks about God, self-love, partners, children, family, and community .

On the book he explores the core tenets of love to help others understand what it means to receive and most important to give love back . He moves from the personal writing about his daughter, to whom he wants to be a better father to the universal, where he observes that our society has become fractured under issues of race and politics. He knows there’s no quick remedy for all of the hurt in the world, but love for yourself and for others is where the healing journey begins.

Common handles his own barrier on having the presence of love in his life and his visit on San Quintin Prison , Understanding how fragile life itself can be .

Through Molestation he had to Taking care of his mother and willing to be the best father to his daughter omoye , Common shares his emotional stories and the way he handle it is so brave .

Common respects all religions such as  : Jewish , Christians , Muslims and all genders  more as he believes that all humans are equal .
