Blink-182 Collide With Lil Wayne On “What’s My Age Again” & “A Milli” Mash-Up

Cover

Rock meets Hip Hop in this interesting mash-up.

Lil Wayne and blink-182 recently collided on a newly introduced mash-up track of iconic rock tune “What’s My Age Again?” and the 2008 banger “A Milli.” The mix was done to promote their new summer tour, which was conjointly announced today. The tour, just like the mash-up, will combine the Hip Hop and Rock, something Wayne previously dabbled in with musical efforts “Prom Queen” and “Knock Out” with Young Money-signee Nicki Minaj. The summer tour seems timely considering the rapper’s close ties with the rock band’s drummer. Furthermore, the North American leg of the tour will start in Colombus, Ohio on June 27th and is scheduled to end in Camden, New Jersey in early August. A special guest, welsh pop-punk band Neck Deep, was also announced as part of the tour. The visuals for the mash-up video were also released along with the track and show Wayne jamming out with blink-182 as they combine their verses.

Quotable Lyrics

I open the Lamborghini, I’m hopin’ them crackers see me

That’s about the time that b*tch hung up on me
Nobody likes you when you’re 23

Bun B & Statik Selektah Link Up With Haile Supreme For Truth-Telling “I Know” Single

Cover

The trio jazz things up on the track.

On 4/20, Bun B and Statik Selektah dropped the album we didn’t know we needed when they released TrillStatik. The 10-track record boasts features including Method ManTalib KweliBig K.R.I.T., and Uncle Murda, blending Statik’s east coast roots with Bun B’s Texas flavor. The duo jazz things up on their single “I Know,” a song where singer Haile Supreme adds his melodic vocals to the chorus. For the bulk of the track, Bun B reflects on what’s truly important: it’s not what you make in life, but what you make of it.The southern rapper has much to be grateful for as he recently went- toe-to-toe with an intruder who attempted to break into his home after confronting his wife at the front door with a gun. Bun defended his home and his family by shooting the gunman before allowing him to flee as he begged for his life. Thankfully, no one else was hurt during the altercation.

Quotable Lyrics

I take a moment for the moments I reflect on
Some I got right and some I got dead wrong
But I’m headstrong, so I don’t even worry
‘Cause it’ll all pass, quick, fast, in a hurry

Slim Thug Drops The Visual To His Nice & Naughty Release “Lately / Poison”

Cover

The rapper released “Suga Daddy Slim: On Tha Prowl” back in February.

Slowing things down for the ladies, Slim Thug released the video for his single “Lately / Poison.” Technically, these are actually two songs, as both “Lately” and “Poison” are featured on the Texas rapper’s recent release, Suga Daddy Slim: On Tha Prowl, but Thug released them as a mashup single for the visual. While the bulk of the video features “Lately,” an R&B-ish jam that boasts about how great his girl is, “Poison” samples the Bel Biv Devoe classic of the same name and features more of a naughty side of the relationship.Suga Daddy Slim: On Tha Prowl dropped on Valentine’s Day and features guest appearances from DJ XO, Z-Ro, Jazze Pha, Beanz N Kornbread, Doughbeezy, and LHITNEY. In his “Lately / Poison” video, Slim spots a PYT walking home and spits his best game. Then the scene cuts to the two of them getting closer than close at home. Things take a raunchy turn at the end when “Poison” is introduced and things become a tad NSFW. Let us know what you think.

Quotable Lyrics

When it’s work time she tell me grind all day
When it’s homie time she say go out and play
When I slip she say baby it’ll be okay
‘Cause if I fall she gon’ still stay anyway

Ari Lennox & J.I.D Come Together On Her “Shea Butter Baby” Single “Broke”

The Dreamville duo partner up on the laid back track.

Dreamville artists are preparing for the global takeover, but for right now two champions off of the roster link up on “Broke,” as Ari Lennox gets help from J.I.D on her Shea Butter Baby single. The track struts a mellow groove that is beautifully accompanied by Lennox’s soulful vocals. J.I.D then adds the perfect amount of pep as his speedy delivery jolts the track before Lennox returns with the hook.Ibrahim Hamad, co-founder of Dreamville along with J.Cole, told Billboard that he knew there was something different about the singer years ago. “When I first met her in 2015, Ari wasn’t going with the norm for what R&B sounded like at the time. It all felt like it was completely her — there was no acting or faking.” Interscope’s Marketing Director Laura Carter is excited that Lennox is stepping into the spotlight.

“There is a bit of a long game you have to play in R&B,” Carter said. “As Ari is developing and her story is coming out, we’re seeing momentum kick in. Older tracks, and those that came out as loose releases, are now getting the special attention they deserve.”

Quotable Lyrics

I don’t know how many times I say it
Broke boy, bang bang, ain’t got no bread
They ain’t got no cheese
I been tryin’ to fertilize your eggs
Moisturize your head, supervise the kids
