Last year, the name Blueface did not ring any bells to anybody outside of Los Angeles. Now, he’s the proud owner of a Billboard Top 10 hit and he’s likely to earn a few more bangers to his name this year. The off-beat rapper turned heads with his tracks, intentionally choosing not to follow a song’s regular structure to stray away from the norm. While some find his music unlistenable, others quite enjoy it. That’s evidenced through the success of “Thotiana,” which has quickly become one of the biggest songs in the country. On the latest Billboard Hot 100 update, Blueface crept his way into the Top 10 for the first time ever in his career.

According to XXL, “Thotiana” now appears at the No. 9 spot after it was ranked at No. 13 last week. With the song continuing to pick up streams, it’s very possible that it goes even higher next week. The Cash Money West signee reacted to the news, hitting Instagram with a few plaque emojis. The track’s success recalls other surprising hits, like Sheck Wes’ “Mo Bamba” and how that randomly started to rise the charting ranks.
