Drake has been snubbed by the Junos in the past.
According to Variety, Drake’s camp didn’t submit the album at all, despite the fact that it would most definitely have been nominated for more than a few awards. Perhaps it can be chalked up to the fact that Drake was actually snubbed in 2011 and 2016 where he was nominated for six and five awards respectively, not winning a single one.
Allan Reid, the CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS), spoke to Variety about Drake not submitting for the awards, saying “Ultimately, this is a question for his camp. While he opted not to submit this year, we’re feeling optimistic that he submitted to the Grammys and we look forward to seeing him at the Junos again in the future.”
The Juno Awards will take place on March 16th and 17th in London, Ontario.
