Despite all the negative press and attention that surrounds R. Kelly at this point in his life– just yesterday it was reported that the r’n’b singer had sex with an underage Aaliyah in front of his entourage, and that’s barely scratching the surface of sexual allegations waged against the elder singer– he continues to persist, and act like everything is fine and dandy.To the effect, he’s decided to ring in the New Year by giving his “day one fans” music. Singling out day one fans here is a strategic choice that is clearly reflected in the record too– he waxes on about how much his fans appreciate him and his music (slight ego involved, but it is R. Kelly), and how many of them had children “born to my music.”He released the song with a message on twitter, saying that a new album would be coming soon. “Happy New Year to my Day One Fans! Uncle Murda Reflects On The State Of Hip-Hop In “Rap Up 2018”

Uncle Murda delivers his yearly wrap-up, “Rap-Up 2018.”

Uncle Murda, alongside Skillz, are two artists that you can always rely on to drop a yearly wrap-up record. Both artists always make it a point to release an ambitious record that basically sums up the entire year of hip-hop, on wax. Skillz got his version in a day before Murda this year (or rather, last year). Murda dropped his own “Rap-Up 2018” on the first day of 2019. Where Skillz’s song clocked in at just over four minutes, and had an assist from Lil Duval, Murda goes it alone for nine minutes, so yeah, be prepared.It’s a lot to digest. Over a soulful beat, Murda runs through a tumultuous year of hip-hop that included beef between Kanye West and Jay-Z, a Ye mental breakdown, Bill Cosby’s imprisonment, the reveal of Drake‘s lovechild, as well as some Drake beef, Tekashi 6ix9ine (need I say more), the deaths of XXXTENTACION and Mac Miller, Cardi B and Offset’s break-up…and the list goes on. He even touches on some Kardashian gossip for good measure. Chris Brown Releases New Single “Undecided”

Chris Brown has officially returned with a brand new track!

It’s been a minute since we heard a solo track from Chris Brown. After overloading his audience with dozens of new songs in 2017, last year was pretty quiet for the accomplished singer. Apart from his Heartbreak On A Full Moon tour, we didn’t hear much new music from the superstar. He was involved in the “King of R&B” debate last month and nobody was really arguing that he deserved his spot there. After spending a decade blessing us with soulful vibes and incredible dance moves, Chris Brown is more than deserving of being in that conversation. Anybody that was looking forward to some new music from the crooner will be happy because his 2019 campaign begins today. Chris Brown has just released his newest single “Undecided.”

After teasing some new tracks coming out right after the holidays, Breezy decided to stick to his promise, delivering “Undecided” today. The song is currently only available in select international markets but you can preview it in the United States right now. It’s expected to release worldwide at midnight.

As one would anticipate, “Undecided” is a love song that shows off all of the notes Brown is famous for hitting. He sings directly to his lady in the mid-tempo hit.

Layzie Bone Comes For Migos Again On “Annihilation”

Layzie Bone doubles down.

Layzie Bone is enjoying the success that he’s achieving by dissing Migos. In fact, Layzie’s name could hardly be found within any relevant news on top publications for years. That all changed when Layzie dissed Migos, making him a trending topic almost immediately. The Migos members mostly ignored all the drama, but Offset did voice his opinion on the matter. 21 Savage also opined about the situation, which earned him the scorn of Layzie as well. Now, after dropping “Let Me Go Migo” Layzie has returned with a second diss record.

“Annihilation” goes for the kill, but I don’t think Layzie realizes just how ineffective his diss songs are to the bigger picture. He teased the diss song on social media earlier in the week, and the final version has arrived on streaming platforms. Unlike “Let Me Go Migo,” “Annihilation” sounds like Layzie took his time constructing this one. Still, there’s a slim chance he’ll receive the response he’s looking for.

Future Drops New Banger “Crushed Up” With Music Video

Future Hendrix returns.

Earlier on Thursday (January 3), Future teased fans by deleting all his Instagram posts. The social media clearing is a telltale sign that an artist is about to drop new music. Future fans began to speculate that a new album would be dropping that night, and the ATLien posted a countdown on his Instagram Story that further fueled the speculation. Fans noted that Beast Mode, Purple Reign, and F.B.G.: The Movie were all released near the start of new years. As soon as the countdown hit midnight, a new single titled “Crushed Up” by Future Hendrix appeared on all streaming services. A music video for the track also arrived.

“Crushed Up” is produced by Wheezy and is an immediate banger. Unlike any of the multiple leaks that hit the web last year, this Future single sounds polished to perfection. His vocals are mixed immaculately over calming synths. The kicks on the instrumental will cause you to nod your head the moment they drop and the addicting chorus is already stuck in my head. Miguel Guests On Benny Blanco & Calvin Harris’ “I Found You/Nilda’s Story”

“I Found You” gets some stripped-down vocals from Miguel.

In early December, Benny Blanco released his new project with Juice WRLD, Ty Dolla $ign, and others. The producer has been looked at as one of the most talented hitmakers in the industry and now, he’s making his name as a solo artist, enlisting all of the top stars on his ride. “I Found You” was initially released with vocals from Calvin Harris and he remains on the new version but the track is much more smooth with Miguel‘s inclusion.

Benny Blanco has introduced his new song “I Found You / Nilda’s Story” which features both Calvin Harris and Miguel. Available now in select international markets, the electronic track is more stripped-down than the original. What do you think of the new version?

Devin The Dude Rides For His Beloved Lemon On “Lacville ’79”

Whenever people are debating the “essentials” of the hip-hop canon, there is one particular project that often gets overlooked. That would be Devin The Dude‘s stellar Just Tryin Ta Live, which dropped in August of 2002. While the album made for one cohesive, weed-fueled odyssey, there’s something endearing about the fourth track, “Lacville 79′.” The self-produced ode to Devin’s titular vehicle drives forward with a slick bassline, bolstered by a few smooth guitar licks; it’s the perfect backdrop for cruising-sessions, as the author likely intended. The infectious beat is but one essential element, however. Devin’s journeyman lyricism should not be undersold.Throughout the lengthy anthem, The Dude finds himself reflecting, albeit fondly, on his vehicle’s numerous shortcomings. Yet as with any relationship, one comes to admire the blemishes. He proceeds to paint a few scenarios in which he and his Lacville overcome, and occasionally falter to adversity. Some tell of a man whose passion for Red Dead Redemption burned so hot, some liken it to the burn of the finest moonshine. That man is, so the story goes, our very own D’Angelo, who frequented the Rockstar offices on a first-name basis. The sheer fiendish nature of his addiction led the Rockstar developers to offer him a tantalizing proposition. After all was said and done, D’Angelo found himself recording a song for the game’s soundtrack, which plays between two Chapter Five missions. Now, weeks after the song was discovered and uploaded, D’Angelo has come through with an official rendition of the slow-burner.The track is steeped in Wild West flavor, implementing gently plucked nylon-string guitars and a soft baritone voice. As the arrangement expands with additional layers, including a haunting, descending guitar line, D’Angelo’s main vocal line blends with a chorus lush harmonies. It’s truly a masterful piece from the legendary singer, and a testament to his versatility.
