R. Kelly Praises Himself On “Born To My Music”

R. Kelly blesses his day one fans with a new single, “Born to my Music.”

Despite all the negative press and attention that surrounds R. Kelly at this point in his life– just yesterday it was reported that the r’n’b singer had sex with an underage Aaliyah in front of his entourage, and that’s barely scratching the surface of sexual allegations waged against the elder singer– he continues to persist, and act like everything is fine and dandy.To the effect, he’s decided to ring in the New Year by giving his “day one fans” music. Singling out day one fans here is a strategic choice that is clearly reflected in the record too– he waxes on about how much his fans appreciate him and his music (slight ego involved, but it is R. Kelly), and how many of them had children “born to my music.”

He released the song with a message on twitter, saying that a new album would be coming soon. “Happy New Year to my Day One Fans! I’ve seen y’all comments asking about new music…I got you! Album coming soon; Trust!,” he wrote. In the meantime, you can look forward (or something) to the Lifetime docuseries centered on the singer and the many allegations against him, titled, Surviving R. Kelly.

Nick Cannon, Ty Dolla $ign & Jacquees Drop Off New Beat “Nobody Else”

Stream the latest track released under Nick Cannon’s Ncredible Gang collective.

Nick Cannon, Ty Dolla $ign and Jacquees have linked up for a new track to kick off the top of the new year and it’s titled “Nobody Else.” The song is an R&B type-tune, delivering everything we would expect from the trio. The sample of the song comes from Big Pun‘s “I Don’t Want To Be A Player No More.””Here it is! Something for everybody to turn up to tonight!!” Nick wrote when debuting the song to his Twitter followers. We think it’s safe to say the track is just a single that doesn’t necessarily accompany an upcoming full project from the artists, and the throwback vibes of the tune is enough to stand alone.

Nick’s verse hears him rapping about getting certain women pregnant and them being “forever his lady.” His lyrics follow-up on his latest comments, detailing how any woman he gets pregnant will never have to work again.

It’s New Year’s Eve, and Skillz has once again come through with one of his patented yearly recaps. This time around, the rapper has opted for a low-key, eighties-inspired instrumental for the occasion. Across the four-minute-plus track, Skillz combs through the year’s biggest events, laughing from afar as he indulges in a bit of malice-free reflection.As he details it, Monique’s Netflix boycott marked one of the inciting incidents, with Will Smith’s arrival on Instagram a close second. From that point on, Skillz recaps the year with an observer’s grace. Uncle Murda Reflects On The State Of Hip-Hop In “Rap Up 2018”

Uncle Murda delivers his yearly wrap-up, “Rap-Up 2018.”

Uncle Murda, alongside Skillz, are two artists that you can always rely on to drop a yearly wrap-up record. Both artists always make it a point to release an ambitious record that basically sums up the entire year of hip-hop, on wax. Skillz got his version in a day before Murda this year (or rather, last year). Murda dropped his own “Rap-Up 2018” on the first day of 2019. Where Skillz’s song clocked in at just over four minutes, and had an assist from Lil Duval, Murda goes it alone for nine minutes, so yeah, be prepared.It’s a lot to digest. Over a soulful beat, Murda runs through a tumultuous year of hip-hop that included beef between Kanye West and Jay-Z, a Ye mental breakdown, Bill Cosby’s imprisonment, the reveal of Drake‘s lovechild, as well as some Drake beef, Tekashi 6ix9ine (need I say more), the deaths of XXXTENTACION and Mac Miller, Cardi B and Offset’s break-up…and the list goes on. He even touches on some Kardashian gossip for good measure. Mid-way through the song, Murda can’t help but admit: it’s a lot.

Two legends come through with a new banger.

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the legendary duo 8Ball & MJG, who once played a pivotal role in putting Memphis hip-hop on the map during the early nineties. Now, over twenty-five years later, the pair have come through with yet another banger for the collection. The track in question, “Take A Picture,” arrives alongside their new live album Classic Pimpin.
