“This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family.”

Following her hospitalization for an alleged suicide attempt, Tamar Braxton’s boyfriend shared an update on her health.

“On behalf of Tamar Braxton, I want to thank her fans and the public for the ongoing thoughts and prayers. Tamar is a beautifully talented woman, a devoted mother, a loving girlfriend, a dear sister and a special friend to countless people,” Adefeso said in a statement to The Blast on Thursday (July 23).

“This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles including her battle with depression,” he continued. “Tamar is currently receiving the best available medical attention to address those struggles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side throughout her treatment.”

In closing, Adefeso noted that mental health issues are very common before asking the public for continued prayers, and to respect Braxton and her family’s privacy. “Please continue to send prayers and hope as Tamar continues the path to recovery and ultimate happiness. We ask to please respect Tamar’s privacy, and her family’s privacy, during this important time of healing.”

Braxton was rushed to the hospital on July 16, after Adefeso found her unconscious inside her room at the Ritz Carlton Residences in Downtown Los Angeles. She was eventually stabilized and placed under 24-hour watch. Days later, it was reported that the 43-year-old singer was alert, and had been transferred to a different hospital where she is receiving specialized mental health treatment.

On a recently-released 911 call from the incident, Adefeso claimed that Braxton had been upset over a dispute with the cable network WEtv which is set to air her new reality show, Get Ya Life!, and the latest season of Braxton Family Values.
