Tory Lanez’ Dream City Fund launches “100 Black Fathers” initiative for former inmates who are celebrating their first Father’s Day since their release.
The Dream City Fund’s 100 Black Fathers initiative launched in partnership with Van Jones and Cut50, with Door Dash and Amazon Music serving as sponsors. They provided gifts and dinner for free to former inmates who are now re-adjusting themselves into society after being released due to COVID-19.
“I think right now this is the most important and just something that’s on my heart to do because I’m all for prison reform and a lot of things that are going on in our community,” he said in a video posted to Instagram. “I wanted to give all those fathers something that they never had and this is from me to you.”
The rapper also shared an open letter to the fathers who were recently released, writing, “You’re with your family. You deserve to enjoy today! I’m grateful to be a very small part of it. I know as a Black father raising Black children in this world, things aren’t easy.”
