With “The Smartest” out now, Tee Grizzley and Big Sean connect for a Detroit banger on the Hit-Boy produced “Trenches.”

Tee Grizzley has been putting on for Detroit since he came through the gate swinging with “First Day Out.” With his distinctive flow and rugged lyricism, the rapper has become an easy fan favorite, whose appeal crossed generations upon uniting with Timbaland for Scriptures. Last night, Tee picked up where his last LP left off and delivered The Smartest, his brand new album featuring Lil BabyMeek Mill, and the elusive Big Sean, who holds it down on the Hit-Boy produced “Trenches.”

Sean Don wastes little time in getting his thoughts out, spitting bars the moment the track begins. “These n****s praying on my downfall,” muses Sean, unfazed by his haters. “Straight up from the bleachers, but I’m a different creature, I bring shit to the table, I ain’t fuckin’ with no leechers.” Refreshing though it always is to hear a new verse from Big Sean, it’s Tee Grizzley who steps up with the scene-stealing contribution. “Asked am I happy with this money? Bitch, I’m happy to be livin,” he raps, his flow quick-tempoed. “I was making a sandwich, they started shootin’ through the kitchen, I got lower than a midget, bullets crashin’ through them digits.”

Check out the track now, which marks the first collaboration between the two Detroit emcees. If you like what you hear, there’s more where that came from on The Smartest.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Asked am I happy with this money? Bitch I’m happy to be livin’
I was making a sandwich, they started shootin’ through the kitchen
I got lower than a midget, bullets crashin’ through them digits
Ayy, I’m really from them trenches
