Earlier this week, Wiz Khalifa shared a hilarious clip on his Instagram that showed a man doing the “You are not the father” dance on Maury. “Im tellin you I’m #alright,” wrote Wiz as the caption. Little did we know that Wiz was preparing a new single for his fans. On Thursday night, Wiz’s Soundcloud blessed fans with “Alright,” a new track featuring Trippie Redd and Preme. The hype new banger features an auto-tuned chorus that will get stuck in your head immediately.Canadian artist Preme kicks off the track with a spirited verse, and Wiz comes to clean up the second verse. Trippie takes chorus duties, laying down an autotune laced melody. Khalifa dropped off Rolling Papers 2 last year, but it’s possible that a new Taylor Gang or Wiz project will touch down in 2019 as well.

2 Chainz Joins Ariana Grande For “7 Rings” Remix

It looks like 2 Chainz and Ariana Grande have ended their mild beef. When the gorgeous vocalist dropped “7 Rings” earlier in January, Soulja Boy came at her for stealing his flow. Soulja has been accusing everyone of being his offspring recently, but his jab at Grande garnered more attention than some of his more obscure rantings. 2 Chainz took to Instagram to question the music video for “7 Rings,” hinting that it looked eerily similar to his Haunted Pink Trap House. “Tryna figure out if I should Big Draco @arianagrande,” joked 2 Chainz, stirring up a mild beef. Apparently, Grande took no offense since she recruited him for the remix.

2 Chainz takes command of the second verse on the “7 Rings” remix, employing autotune over a creeping flow for immaculate results. In all honestly, Chainz sounds like he belongs on this instrumental. Maybe he should put out a remix of his own.

Tyga Teams Up With Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke For “Low Key”

Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke is hell-bent on garnering individual cred in 2019, by which she is banking on the big league assist from everyone’s favourite club-facilitator in Tyga. Their new duet titled “Low Key” shines a light on our current fixation with vague relationship templates and the low-key apparatus that comes with the “unmatching” option on dating apps.

She enlists Tone Stith for the remix, which doesn’t stray from the feeling of the original.Tone Stith’s vibe on the track meshes well with H.E.R.’s. He hits extreme highs vocally while highlighting his emotional lows. It would have been nice to hear more of a variation on the remix, but the song rides none the less. As promised, Nicki Minaj delivered on new music with the arrival of her latest Queen Radio episode on Beats 1. Decidedly, Nicki took on two smashes from a set of duos in hip-hop, grabbing Drake and Meek Mill’s “Going Bad” and Lil Baby and Gunna‘s “Drip Too Hard” hit, the latter of which is featured here.

Just as she does on “Going Bad,” Nicki adopts the cadence of the cut’s originators as she laces the song with her own flavor as she raps, “Drip too hard, got his dick too hard/He gon’ fuck around and drown off this wave/Pretty little toes, stuntin’ on these hoes/Buy another bag soon as I get paid.”

Paul Wall Gets His “Swerve” On With Another Serving Of Slab Music

Paul Wall is still drooping to the side in a slab.

On “Swerve” Paul Wall delivers the same old message, of Northerners imposing their will on to muffled silence. For every encourageable triumph in Travis Scott‘s career, the City of Houston is only paid a small percentage-owed. But when Paul Wall puts out a new song to little fanfare, its resonance is damn near always felt on the ground level. That’s why Paul Wall gets a similar amount of screen time on the JumboTron wearing a Yao Ming throwback at the Toyota Center.

On “Swerve,” Paul Wall doesn’t go at it alone; he is joined by Pendrick, who in my opinion, actually upstages his host, but not purposely so – in the manner LLCooL J went about derailing Canibus’ career decades ago. Paul Wall, in his assumed role as the “The Po Up Poet” hasn’t lost his beguiling powers, even in his old age (relative to hip-hop’s purge of all things stale). The toothy grin shines just as bring in 2019 as it did for his iconic debut. Back in 2005, the rap public didn’t know what to make of a white dude penning slab music. Nicki Minaj Flips Drake & Meek Mill On “Barbie Going Bad”

Nicki Minaj‘s Queen Radio broadcast returned to the Beats 1 platform on Saturday and prior to going live, the emcee assured fans that they would be getting new music with its arrival. While many were awaiting something along the lines of new original tracks, Nick decided to put her own spin on things when she arrived with two remixes to tracks that have been dominating playlists as of late, Drake and Meek Mill‘s “Going Bad” and Lil Baby and Gunna’s “Drip Too Hard.”

On “Going Bad,” Nicki begins with a cadence that mimics Drizzy’s on the track as she begins with references to her boyfriends “Onika” neck tattoo and her success in breaking Aretha Franklin’s Billboard record. Naturally, the flip caused the most uproar out of the two with Nicki allegedly dissing Drake in her most recent “Hard White” music video as she is seen destroying a small scorpion onscreen.

Today marks a notable day for the modern mixtape collector. Wiz Khaflia and Curren$y‘s joint tape, How Fly, has hit all streaming services. Not only is the shift convenient in today’s age of instant accessibility, but it also signals a sign of change to come; before long, perhaps your favorite tape will surface on your platform of choice. In the meantime, How Fly is the integral companion to any smoke session, as both Wiz and Curren$y likely bonded, Step-Brothers-esque, over a shared admiration for the greenleaf. Selecting a song to highlight proved difficult, as the tape has yielded a variety of fan favorites across the board, yet something about “Surface To Air” felt right for today’s showing.

GLC Says Kanye West Has Moved Past The MAGA Antics For Good

The longtime G.O.O.D. Music artist & friend to Kanye West sat down with Van Lathan for a tell-all interview.

While the early reports indicate that Kanye West has surrendered all his MAGA hats to an unknown disciplinary body, and rapper/friend GLC is certain it’ll never happen again. Kanye’s longtime friend is, last I heard, still signed to G.O.O.D. Music in some capacity, so it’s not at all surprising that a majority of his recent interview with Van Lathan was spent talking about the sunken genius. Check out this 1-minute clip taken from Van Lathan’s in-studio recording of the “The Red PillPodcast.”

According to GLC, Kanye gave him his solemn word he would stop supporting Donald Trump, by sporting the hat or otherwise. GLC says the convo transpired a few weeks ago, which in turn has TMZ digging deep into the timeline for inconsistencies. As they point out, Kanye West tweeted went on a pro-MAGA, pro-Trump Twitter rant on New Year’s Day – which for all intents and purposes, doesn’t appear to invalidate GLC’s claim of a week’s worth of reasonable doubt.

After withstanding a bit of pressure from his host, GLC finally admitted that he was never behind Kanye West’s decision to rock the MAGA hat, but stood but he stood by him regardless, as “chosen family” often does. Back in May of last year, GLC deemed it necessary to openly criticize his friend right after the now-infamous TMZ interview. But in hindsight, if it weren’t for brutally honest confidantes like GLC, Kanye West would be in the hands of the wrong prophets, would he not?

Cardi B’s “Money” No. 1 On R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart

Cardi B’s “Money” makes the most impact at radio.

According to new numbers pulled by Nielsen music, Cardi has now notched her third No. 1 atop the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart with her “Money” single after experiencing a jump of 9 percent, reaching an audience of 29.7 million listeners.

Previously, Cardi occupied No. for her “Bodak Yellow” breakout and her role in G-Eazy and A$AP Rocky’s “No Limit” cut. While the former held on for 10 weeks straight, the latter clocked in at No. for six weeks.

“Money” now plays a role in the culmination of Cardi’s top 10 singles on the chart which are now tallied at ten tracks total. Rounding it to the figure is also Cardi’s part in Pardison Fontaine “Backin’ It Up,” which lands at No. 9 this week after a jump of 11 percent. For Pardi, it’s the New York songwriter and rapperr’s first visit to the top 10 as a front-facing artist.

“Money” also makes the leap to No. 1 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart, becoming the most played track on R&B/hip-hop radio stations, confirming her for a fifth No. 1 on that chart. “Backin It Up” also moves to No.6 on the same chart after locking in a 12 percent boost in plays. Next up, eyes will be set to see if Cardi is keen on recreating the same magic that granted her such a successful 2018 as we await her sophomore outing.

Trippie Redd Previews “Be Yourself” Track In Montreality Freestyle

Trippie goes a capella.

Most recently, Montreal shared a new clip pulled from a sit-down with Trippie Redd in which the rapper previewed an unreleased track, titled “Be Yourself. ” while labeled as a freestyle, the video seems to point toward a simple a capella rendition of Trippe’s “Be Yourself” song. While unreleased, a studio snippet of the song did surface online earlier in the year.

This new clip serves as an extension of that leak as Trippie seems to perform the track in its entirety while backstage at his last performance at Rolling Loud. The subject matter on “Be Yourself” doesn’t vary much from Trippie’s regularly scheduled program as he resorts to melodic delivery of lines that reflect both self and one’s surrounding environment: “I spoke to god yesterday and I told him “save me”/Think its the rapture today and I told him “take me”/I empty clips on niggas don’t know bout safeties/I got him clutching and shaking like they got rabies.”

So far, Trippie offers no update on the whereabouts of the “Be Yourself” track and has been MIA for some days now as far as social media is concerned. His most recent appearance was at the Super Bowl Music Festival Saturday night in Atlanta, gracing the stage alongside the likes of Bruno Mars and fellow QC management mate Cardi B.
