On Friday (Feb. 10), Magic Mike’s Last Dance released in theaters. The movie is the third installment of the beloved Magic Mike movie series. The film stars Salma Hayek and Channing Tatum, who has been the lead actor for all three movies in the trilogy. However, there has been quite a bit of drama attached to the series. In April, actress Thandiwe Newton quit production for the series. It was reported that she left because of a heated disagreement she had with Channing Tatum. Allegedly, the two were arguing about the notorious slap from Will Smith on Chris Rock.
Nevertheless, Magic Mike’s Last Dance is a long-awaited, highly-anticipated flick. The final chapter of the series will put the finishing touches on a great era for Tatum. To help promote the new movie, rising R&B star Lucky Daye was enlisted to craft an original song for the soundtrack. Daye had an incredible 2022, where he dropped his most popular project to date. He delivered Candydrip in March, which lasted nearly an hour, and boasted features from Smino, Lil Durk, and more. Additionally, Daye was able to collaborate with legends throughout the year. This list includes stars like Syd from The Internet, Ella Mai, Mark Ronson, Alicia Keys, and Ari Lennox.
Lucky Daye Shines
“Careful” by Lucky Daye came out at midnight ET on Feb. 10. The song is produced by Scribz Riley, who is most known for work with other R&B talents like Khalid, H.E.R. and Zayn Malik. Ushered in by a violin, the lustful track brings in drums shortly after. Setting a sensual, racy mood, Lucky’s subdued and echoed vocals fit the vibe just right. It is easy to picture this song being played during a sexually intense scene in the movie. Singing about being a “dog off a leash,” “Careful” is the perfect track for a Magic Mike setting.
