Kanye West has reportedly angered a homeless organization in Los Angeles after sharing a cryptic social media post about his key inspirations.
On Friday (August 12), Yeezy took to Instagram with a note that read: “Look to the children… Look to the homeless… As the biggest inspiration for all design.”
Without a caption to go along with the obscure message, it’s not exactly clear what Kanye’s latest philosophical musing means. However, some of the people in his comments section have attempted to unpack the post.
German artist Grammy Mars, who Kanye follows on Instagram, agreed with West, declaring that “more adults should look to children for pure ideas.” His post has so far received over 12,000 likes.
Balenciaga composer BFRND compared West’s statement to a famous Pablo Picasso quote: “It took me four years to paint like Raphael but a lifetime to paint like a child.”
Not everyone is as enamored with Ye’s post, most notably Los Angeles Mission, a homeless charity that West has worked with in the past.
According to TMZ, people close to the organization claimed Mission is frustrated with Kanye because he’s not followed through on promises he made to house those in need and help get them jobs.
Kanye West visited the Mission last year and told the organization that he would use his companies to help the homeless with employment, education, and housing. But according to TMZ, Mission has attempted to contact Ye several times since the meeting but has been unsuccessful in getting a hold of the Donda hitmaker.
West has done a lot to help the homeless in the past including handing out 1,000 Thanksgiving meals at an event in Los Angeles last year. He also held one of his Sunday Services at the Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row back in 2019.
Meanwhile, Kanye West is currently without legal representation in his divorce from Kim Kardashian after his divorce lawyer recently withdrew from the case.
According to Billboard, Kanye’s divorce attorney, Samantha Spector, was relieved of her duties by Judge Steve Cochrane at a hearing in Los Angeles earlier this month (August 5), just months before the high-profile divorce is set to go to trial.
Spector — a well-known Hollywood divorce lawyer — requested to step down in May, citing “an irreconcilable breakdown” in her relationship with the billionaire rapper.
Kanye has now lost five divorce lawyers amid his split from Kardashian, with whom he shares four children. He fired his last attorney, Chris Melcher, in March.
