• Mike Dean Executive Producing “Pigeons & Planes” Album After Volunteering In The Comments

The producing legend Mike Dean will be helming the “Pigeons & Planes” compilation album.

The Pigeons & Planes compilation album couldn’t ask for an executive producer with a better resumé. The list of artists Mike Dean has worked with reads like a hall of fame induction: Kanye West, 2PacScarface2 Chainz, Jay-Z, Kid CudiTravis Scott, Drake, The Weeknd, and many more. Now, Dean will be lending his talents to the music discovery site’s first album.

Dean applied for the project much like a fan would. Pigeons & Planes announced their upcoming album, See You Next Year, on Instagram in November, and Mike Dean took to the comments, offering his services. Needless to say, the team took him up on his offer. Apparently, this type of approach is commonplace for Dean. As he told Complex, “Sometimes I’ll just see something on Instagram and I’ll reach out to the person on DM. That’s how, like, half the projects probably get started.”

According to Pigeons & Planes founder Jacob Moore, the See You Next Year team could barely believe their luck. “We had a short list of rising artists that we really wanted to get songs from, and surprisingly almost all of them were down,” he told HipHopDX. “We posted about the project on Instagram just to let people know it was happening, and the first time we ever mentioned it, Mike Dean commented: ‘Need an executive producer?’ We thought it was a joke, but we started talking to him and he was serious. Having him involved has been a game-changer. I would have never imagined him working with some of these artists who are just getting started, but he took every song to the next level and has been so hands-on with the creative process. I’m biased, but this album is sounding so good.”

Maybe these sessions will be more relaxed than those for Kanye’s Donda, which Dean described as “grueling.”

  • Offset and Cardi B Watch A Yacht Sink: “Can’t Nobody Save That”

Offset and Cardi B were stunned to witness a yacht’s demise.

Things have been going swimmingly for Offset and Cardi B recently. Last month, the couple showed off their family and revealed pictures of their new baby boy. They did date night in style. Just a few days ago, Offset said Cardi was his favorite meal.

Now, on what looks like a beachy getaway, the couple has borne witness to a naval mishap. Both rappers took to their socials to document a yacht’s final moments as it sank into a watery grave.

In Offset‘s Instagram story, he and Cardi watch on in disbelief as a yacht slowly sinks after having seemingly struck a rocky outcrop. “It’s going to sink, boy,” Offset narrates in the video. Cardi can barely contain herself, saying, “Oh my God, nobody’s going to save it?” Offset replies, “Can’t nobody save that.” As the video progresses, it seems like his assessment is right. The boat becomes almost totally submerged, and it doesn’t look like help is on the way. “Do you know how much money that is?” Offset says, stunned.

Cardi posted a video of the sinking to her Twitter, seemingly capturing the event a little bit after Offset. “I can’t believe I’m actually watching a yacht sink,” she wrote. She’s just as animated in her video, exclaiming, “It’s sinking! Y’all see that?” A Twitter user quickly cut together footage from James Cameron’s Titanic set to Cardi B‘s yacht commentary. Cardi was hardly amused. “You know what,” she replied.

Check out Cardi B’s video below, along with her response to the Titanic joke. Is the boat gone for good or could it still be saved?

  • The Game Announces Release Date For “Drillmatic” Album Produced By Hit-Boy

The Game will be ending his retirement soon.

The Game announced his retirement after his last album, Born 2 Rap, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy outside of music. The rapper has given advice to women looking to get cosmetic surgery, he’s arm-wrestled none other than Mike Tyson, and he has continued to stoke his eternal beef between 50 Cent and himself.

Now, it looks like his not-so-restful retirement from music is officially coming to a close. On Saturday (May 28), The Game went on Instagram to reveal the release date for his upcoming project, Drillmatic– Mind Vs. Heart. It will be his first album since 2019.

The IG post is an old photo of Game holding his son, who wears an NWA chain. Game announced the release date in the caption: June 17th, 2022. He also wrote that the project would be executive produced by Hit-Boy. This is not the first we’re hearing of Drillmatic– the legendary rapper hinted at its release earlier this month. “I know my album gone be the best album of 2022 cause the energy feels like I just signed my deal. You’ve never heard me rap like this, I promise you,” he claimed.

And Game’s not the only one who has a high opinion of his upcoming album. G Herbo went on record saying that Drillmatic would be the “hardest album” of 2022. Hit-Boy’s also done his part to promote the album. In a recent appearance on Sway In The Morning, the producer showed off an unreleased track from The Game that should be appearing on Drillmatic. Check out the teaser below, and let us know what you think. Will Herbo be proven correct?

  • DJ Khaled Celebrates Miami Heat Win Over Boston Celtics: “God Is Great”

DJ Khaled was very pleased with his team’s performance last night.

There are very few subjects DJ Khaled won’t give his opinion on. The artist called for fans to call him “MJ” after he sank a jump shot. He called out McDonald’s after he couldn’t find a Happy Meal. He boasted that no one on earth could beat him in a Verzuz battle.

Now he’s giving his thoughts on his favorite basketball team, the Miami Heat. The team just beat the Boston Celtics on the road in a do-or-die Game 6, after Jimmy Butler scored a massive 47 points. Following the 111-103 victory, Khaled couldn’t contain himself.

In a video posted to Instagram, Khaled stood inches from the TV screen as the final seconds of the game wound down, white basketball in hand. “They ain’t believe in us. God did,” he said to the camera. “They ain’t believe in us. God did. Game 7, baby! God is great.” He captioned the post in kind, writing, “GOD DID! Great win @miamiheat”

DJ Khaled‘s Heat fandom is no secret. He attends many of the home games, as animated as he ever is in courtside seats. He’s expressed getting involved in the franchise, at one point saying that he’s interested in buying an ownership stake in the team. More recently, he was ushered off the FXT Arena court after airballing a 3-pointer.

When he’s not rooting on his team, Khaled’s been hinting at new music for a while now. He teased that he was in “album mode” with Drake. Then he posted a picture of 21 Savage. The caption? “Album mode.”

Check out Khaled’s celebratory video below.

  • The Game Claims 50 Cent & Jimmy Iovine Gave Him $1M To Stop Saying “G-Unot”

The Game’s play on G-Unit got under Jimmy and 50 Cent’s skin.

The beef between The Game and 50 Cent spans almost two decades and shows no sign of slowing. Back in April, The Game spoke to Fat Joe and doubled down that 50 Cent did not put him on. The Game challenged Eminem to a battle, but The Game said it was only because 50 Cent “can’t rap.” The third member of G-UnitTony Yayo, recently weighed in on the infinite beef, saying he knew where its real roots lay.

Now Game’s back for more 50 Cent disparaging. In a recent interview with the All The Smoke podcast, Game spoke about a high point in his beef with 50. According to him, 50 and Jimmy Iovine were ready to pay big money to get his G-Unit attacks to stop.

“Lotta people don’t know this… 50 and Jimmy Iovine gave me a million dollars to stop saying G-Unot,” Game said. “They wrote me a check, they bought it. I had to trademark the G-Unot. And you remember when I was going around with the rat and doing all that s**t, that s**t hurt– killed G-Unit.”

And Game didn’t stop there, going on to describe the demise of the G-Unit fashion line. “You stopped seeing the candy cane tank tops and all that s**t,” he said. “All that, the whole G-Unit/Mark Ecko, the shoes, that s**t died. That s**t was a hot commodity at once, G-Unit clothing. N****s was wearing the sweats, headbands, the masks, everything… So they had to pay me. I should have asked for more but them n****s gave me a million. But I’m a hood n***a, a million dollars to stop saying this word? Where’s the check? They wrote the check and I stopped saying it.”

It seems that The Game/50 Cent beef will continue to be a constant in the hip hop world.
