Will Smith has made a living starring in blockbuster action movies such as Independence Day, Bad Boys, Bad Boys II and Bad Boys For Life. Naturally, he had to whip himself into tip-top shape for every role to properly execute each character.
But according to Smith, he let all of that go in exchange for what is commonly referred to as a “dad bod.” On Sunday (May 2), the Academy Award-nominated actor shared a photo of himself to Instagram looking noticeably thicker.
He wrote in the caption, “I’m gonna be real wit y’all – I’m in the worst shape of my life.”
Despite Will Smith’s self-deprecating description, there were plenty of people in the comment section who thought he looked just fine and others who told him things like, “You’re Will Smith!! You can be in whatever shape you want.”
Then again, it’s possible Smith is simply gearing up for his next role. Actors are often known to change their appearances as they’re prepping for whatever’s next in their filmography. The seasoned thespian and sometimes rapper is currently filming the Reinaldo Marcus Green-directed movie King Richard, which is expected to arrive in November.
But contrary to what the title suggests, the film isn’t about King Richard I of England. No, it’s about Richard Williams, the father and coach of legendary tennis players Venus and Serena Williams. Smith is cast in the starring role.
