Daz Dillinger is mourning the loss of his mother Allean Varnado who passed away on Saturday morning (February 20). According to an Instagram post from Tha Dogg Pound OG, she died on her sister Annette’s birthday at the age of 73. As expected, the veteran rapper isn’t doing well in the wake of her death.
“THIS MORNING MY MOM DIED 12/29/1947 -2/20/21,” he wrote in all caps. “ON HER SISTER ANNETTE BIRTHDAY HER BIG SISTER CAME TO GET HER & WENT HOME TO THE LORD AFTER SHE GAVE ME A KISS THIS MORNING. Im so sad.”
Upon learning the news, the Hip Hop community banned together and several notable names popped up in the comment section to offer Daz their support. DJ Premier — who lost both of his parents in recent years and knows firsthand what Daz is experiencing — wrote, “She will watch over you and bless you Daz,” while Jermaine Dupri offered a series of prayer emojis.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg — condolences from Redman, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony legend Layzie Bone, Compton’s Most Wanted’s Tha Chill, Warren G, WC, Mia X, Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog and The D.O.C. poured in throughout the day. Even Rick Ross left several prayer emojis for Daz.
As reality set in, Daz continued posting photos of his mother, giving a glimpse into what their relationship was like. HipHopDX sends our condolences to Daz and his family.
