Hip Hop suffered another tragic loss during the wee hours of Friday (November 6). Chicago’s King Von was killed following a dispute outside an Atlanta hookah lounge, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Atlanta Police have confirmed. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, gunfire broke out after an altercation between two groups of civilians.

Two others in addition to Von were killed during the shootout, according to TMZ. Von was hospitalized in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to his injuries early Friday.

“There was an incident where two groups of individuals got into a physical altercation. The physical altercation escalated into an exchange of gunfire with those groups,” Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Timothy Peek said. “Two police officers who were working at that particular club, or lounge, noticed the gunfire, the altercation and engaged some of the people involved. There was an exchange of gunfire with police as well.”

The OTF rhymer just released his Welcome To O’Block album last week featuring assists from Polo G, his mentor Lil DurkDreezyMoneybagg YoFivio Foreign and more. In March, Von unleashed his LeVon James project, which reached No. 36 on the Billboard 200.

Born in Chicago as a rose from the South Side’s concrete, Von recently moved to Atlanta to get away from the troubles at home and focus on his career as a budding rap star.

Once the nightmare became a reality and it was confirmed Von had passed away at just 26, an outpouring of tributes from fans, family and fellow rappers began to flood social media. Von’s right-hand producer Chopsquad DJ and his cousin Calboy were two of the first to react to the news.
