Trey Songz & Davido Are Up Late Waiting For A Text Back On “Sleepless Nights”

Trey Songz & Davido are hopeless romantics on “Sleepless Nights.”

Trey Songz returned with eighth studio album, Back Home. Over the year, the singer has teased the release with a few singles. A few weeks back, he unleashed the Swae Lee-assisted “Rain” and during the second uprising of the Black Lives Matter movement, he reflected on the protests on “2020 Riots: How Many Times.”

Among many other highlights off of the project, Nigeria’s Davido continues his hot streak in the Western hemisphere with his feature on “Sleepless Nights.” Finding a perfect middle ground between Trey Songz’ luscious R&B stylings and Davido’s vibrant afrobeats sounds, the pair detail lost love on late nights.

“Sleepless Nights” mark their first time working with each other directly, though they both appeared on Sean Kingston‘s “Peace of Mind” together alongside Stefflon Don.

Big Boi & Sleepy Brown Enlist Killer Mike For “We The Ones” Remix

Killer Mike joins Big Boi and Sleepy Brown for the remix of “We The Ones.”

Big Boi and Sleepy Brown have been heating things up this year for their forthcoming project, The Big Sleepover which fans have the lead been longing for. The pair have released several singles in the lead up to its release including, “We The Ones.” They’ve returned with a brand new remix including Killer Mike and Big Rube that provides a sense of hope during these bleak times. The genre-blending styles of Organized Rhyme is evident with hip-hop, funk, and soul finding a middle ground as Big Boi, Killer Mike, and Sleepy Brown detail the fight against injustice and oppression.

The song initially appeared on Organized Rhymes’ 2017 LP and was recently used for the new compilation Good Music to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy.

“In a time of so much despair we wanted to give the people a little light to live to,” Big Boi said about the remix in a statement.

Reason, Isaiah Rashad & JID Prove Lyrical Rap Is Far From “Extinct”

Reason get his bars up in the posse cut from his TDE debut.

Reason’s long awaited debut on TDE New Beginnings is finally here and he’s delivering on the label’s reputation for quality rap.

The rapper links up with TDE labelmate Isaiah Rashad and ATL’s J.I.D for a classic-feeling spit through with that old school vibe.

Producer Devin Williams samples Metal Fingers’ (also known as MF DOOM) “Pennyroyal,” creating a smoky vibe for the three rappers to do their thing.

If you recognize the sample, it’s because Joey Bada$$ hopped on that beat on his debut tape 1999.

All in all, it’s a formidable offering from Reason who came through with a solid album despite some problematic hiccups.

Papoose Is On Grown Man Time With New Single “Maturity”

The New York City rapper takes a minute to show some love to his wife.

Papoose and Remy Ma are the wholesome hip hop love story that we just don’t see enough of.

The New York rapper just dropped his latest album Endangered Species – which features appearances from Conway the Machine, French Montana, and DJ Premier – and he’s switching things up just a bit with “Maturity.”

“Maturity” is an ode to love and respect and is clearly inspired by Papoose‘s relationship with Remy.

The rapper recently released the accompanying video for the album’s latest single, taking inspiration from Prohibition-era mobster flicks, as he serenades his wife: “me, you, and the baby, haters ain’t nothing like us/knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, don’t break the cypher.”

The video’s black and white aesthetic suits the lounge jazz vibes from producer Brady Watt, with an understated piano and dusty boom-bap drums giving plenty of space for Papoose’s bars.

We’re back with another edition of our weekly Fire Emoji playlist including several songs that you should have on rotation right now. Let’s get straight to the breakdown:

Kicking things off is the latest from Benny The Butcher. The Griselda rapper has been buzzing all year long with collaborations alongside Griselda giants Westside Gunn and Conway, as well as Freddie Gibbs, Dave East, and of course, Lil Wayne, who he worked with on Funeral deluxe. Now, Weezy returns the favor on the Hit-Boy produced, “Timeless” which also features Big Sean. Serving as the first single on Benny and Hit-Boy’s anticipated collaborative project, Burden Of Proof, Benny, Wayne, and Sean deliver an incredible glimpse at what we could expect in the future.

TDE‘s Reason returned with his latest body of work, New Beginnings this week in the midst of rumors that Kendrick Lamar had left Top Dawg Entertainment. K. Dot later confirmed that wasn’t the case, deading any discussion surrounding the rumors in order for Reason to have all of the shine. He didn’t disappoint, either. Laced with a tight fourteen tracks and appearances from ScHoolboy, Ab-Soul, and more, Reason showed out, flexing his lyrical muscle, on his latest project. Reason’s eerie banger “Stories I Forgot ” was a necessary addition to this week’s Fire Emoji playlist.
