Rich The Kid: “I’m Feeling Like The Hottest Rapper In The F**king World”

 Jerritt Clark/Getty Images

The rapper says his latest effort is stacked with hits.

The World is Your 2 is upon us, and it’s safe to say that the album is fire. So, how do you think Rich The Kid is feeling? “I’m feeling like the hottest rapper in the f**king world,” he said. Just hours before TWIY2 dropped, Rich chopped it up with Billboard for an exclusive one-on-one interview where he spoke in detail about his latest project. According to The Kid, this is the album of the year because he has hit after hit, not just a basic release with a few singles or “regular songs.”

“I record so much work, so when it’s time to do an album it’s like, I just pick the songs,” he said. “I got so much, so I’m coming back after this quick.” When asked how quick “quick” actually is, the rapper was coy about it and just repeated his same answer. “I like bringing the best out of the track,” Rich said. “When I do a track, I pick the beat. I got a very unique beat selection. So, after I make the song, I try to hear who I would hear on the song for the fans, not only for myself. So that’s how it goes [when it comes to] collaborating.”

“Me and Miguel did the record. It was dope,” the rapper said about linking up with R&B hitters Miguel and Ty Dolla $ign on “Woah.” “I did one verse to it and then I changed it when I got to New York. Then I sent it to Ty Dolla [and] he sent it back to me the same day in like, two hours. You already know it’s [a] smash.” Rich also said that he and Tory Lanez, who he collaborated with on “Tic Toc,” have quite a few records in the vault, so there’s always the possibility that they could work on a joint project. However, they aren’t committed to anything just yet and are just going with the flow.

Check out what else Rich The Kid had to say on the eve of his album release including what it’s like running his own record label, his past job working as a cashier at Wendy’s, and what it’s been like anticipating the birth of his son below:

Rihanna Has Legs For Days In Golden “Trophy Wife” Photos

Rihanna is at the top of everybody’s list.

As long as she decides to stay in the spotlight, Rihanna will always be a hot topic. It doesn’t matter if she’s releasing new music, dropping a make-up line, or doing literally nothing at all, Rihanna is a dream girl for many men and women around the world. The superstar is currently working on her next album, letting some close friends listen to it during a recent studio session, but while we wait for that to arrive, she continues to impress us with the most stunning shots to promote her various lines.

She’s currently pushing a new product in her Fenty Beauty range and, as usual, she’s doing it with a bunch of photos. Yesterday, RiRi prepared us all with a picture of herself standing against the wall, looking like a golden statue. That wasn’t all she was selling us though. Later on, she posted a video to her official page with Slick Woods and other models, rocking the new “Trophy Wife” body lava. Finally, the third shot was of the artist showing off her legs, laying down in a gold dress and stretching out her body length-wise.

Rihanna is looking as good as she ever has. Her Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty promotions are working like a gem, allowing the pop star to grow her business opportunities and reach new heights in her career.

Kelly Clarkson Stuns Crowd With Cardi B, Post Malone, & Lauryn Hill Mashup

She said she picks a new genre to cover with each tour stop.

Any way you slice it, Kelly Clarkson is a powerhouse vocalist. Unlike many others who found fame through American Idol, Clarkson was able to capitalize off of her moment and carve out a solid singing career. The Voice coach is currently making her way through her “Meaning of Life Tour,” and during a stop in Long Island, New York, Clarkson surprised fans with an unlikely rendition of songs that many wouldn’t associate with the vocalist.”I couldn’t go everywhere so I thought it would be cool if we go live every show and I do a different song every show in this portion,” Clarkson explained to the crowd. “We try to keep a part of the show fresh that is just for you all. Every show we do a different song and every show I’ve done I’ve literally picked a completely different genre but that’s because I just really love music.”

Clarkson started things with Cardi B‘s “Be Careful,” and then moved on to Post Malone‘s “Better Now” before finishing the medley off with Lauryn Hill‘s Miseducation of Lauryn Hill classic “Ex-Factor.” Clarkson told the audience, “I just love all those artists, I’m such a fan!” she continued. “I probably should have broken them up and covered them all individually but I love when like something is so good, it reminds you of something else that is so good and you just marry them.”

It’s pretty impressive considering the band didn’t have much time to work on the mashup. “We literally just put that together this afternoon,” Clarkson said.

Justin Bieber Fends Off Trivial Rumors Of A Snoop Dogg Feud

 Michael Tran/FilmMagic

“Love you to pieces Unc Snoop.”

It appears that Snoop Dogg and Justin Bieber seem ready to resume their timeless friendship after it had become apparent Hailey Baldwin had unwittingly forced them into a binding position. It all happened so fast and under the most harmless of pretenses.

Snoop Dogg, several years Hailey’s senior, shouted out the model over Instagram after he’d noticed her wearing a stylish Snoop-themed t-shirt. Unsubstantiated reports across the Web flirted with the idea that Bieber was actually bothered by the unsolicited press. And how you ask, did Bieber’s jealous streak play out in real time?

Bieber jumped into the comment section of the very same post by writing, “That’s My Girl,” as if to convey some form of protectiveness. While Bieber’s words were likely intended as a joke, rumors of discordance between the two celebrity figures still found a way to the surface. That’s why Bieber has since gone out of his way to dispel rumors of a disagreement by dedicating an entire Instagram post to “Uncle Snoop.”

The full Instagram musing actually reads, “Love you to pieces Unc snoop” thereby putting an end to all the rubbish speculation concerning the two. If you’ll recall, Uncle Snoop was on hand for JB’s celebrity roast, which is coincidentally viewed as somewhat of a turning point in the young man’s life. No love lost, certainly not over a band t-shirt.

Gunna, Offset, Lil Pump, and Kehlani All Debut In Top 10 Of Billboard 200

Yuchen Liao, Pascal Le Segretain, Gregg DeGuire, Emma McIntyre/Getty Images

A powerful week for hip-hop and R&B.

As expected, it was left to Ariana Grande and the duo of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to battle it out for the top two slots on the Billboard 200 this week with the latter of the matchup reigning victorious for their Star Is Born soundtrack with 128,000 album equivalent units, following a strong showing at last week’s Academy Awards. Miss Grande casually slipped into No. 2 for her Thank U, Next outing with 116,000.But the most precious showing, at least we’d like to think so in these ends, is the No. 3 debut of Gunna‘s Drip or Drown 2 album. The young Atlanta superstar does so with 90,000 album units with 7,000 in pure sales. It beats out his Drip Harder set with Lil Baby that peaked at No. 4 on the same chart. Interestingly, Gunna is only the first of five total debuts in the Top 10 this week, the most since October of last year, in the same week Drip Harder actually debuted.

Jason Koerner/Getty Images

Of these debuts, four albums are belonging to Hip-Hop and R&B artists, which speaks to more cause for celebration. Following up at No.4, we’ll find Offset’s Father Of 4 project, almost matching his young contemporary with 89,000 units. It becomes Offset’s fourth Top 10 effort, two of which he earned as a member of Migos when both Culture and Culture II debuted at No. 1. The other honor belongs to his Metro Boomin collab Without Warning, which previously debuted and peaked at No. 4.

At No. 5 is Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack with 61,000 units, while Gary Clark Jr. debuts at No. 6 for his This Land album with 54,000 units, making it his third top 10 outing. Moving on down the list is Lil Pump at No. 7 for his Harverd Dropout project which moves 48,000 units, 25,000 of which are pure album sales, due to merchandise/album bundles. His last top 10 album was with his self-titled debut which bowed and peaked at No. 3 in 2017.

A Boogie wit da Hoodie continues his top 10 run with Hoodie SZN at No. 8 after pushing 37,000 while Kehlani earsn the final top 10 debut of the week with her While We Wait capturing 34,000 units. Post Malone continues his own domination as well, closing out the top 10 for beerbongs & bentleys with 33,000 units.

50 Cent Doubles Down: “Emanuel Gonzalez Is A Dirty Cop”

 Roy Rochlin/Getty Images

50 Cent is seeking objectivity in his quest to drain the NYPD swamp.

The ongoing feud between 50 Cent and NYPD officer Emmanuel Gonzalez continues. After Gonzalez reportedly told officers to “shoot the rapper on sight” during a roll call, Fif has been campaigning to tarnish the officer’s name; should Gonzalez indeed have issued such a request, the campaign is fueled on a sound basis. Sadly, however, it would appear the court of public opinion has been left divided, if the article cited on 50’s IG is to be believed.

 Graham Denholm/Getty Images

“Community rallies to defend NYPD commanding officer after his dispute with 50 Cent,” reads the headline. Is it possible to suggest that 50 is being dubbed a “boy who cried wolf” in this instance? After all, he’s been so merciless toward his opponents, responding without remorse to perceived slights and age-old grudges. Yet now, in the midst of a genuinely disturbing and escalating situation, 50 Cent has come to discover his usual tricks have dulled in their efficacy.

“What dispute, he just told a bunch of Cops at roll call to shoot me on sight,” writes the rapper, in an IG statement of sorts. “The 8 Good Cops And a supervisor reported him. Emanuel Gonzalez is a dirty Cop.” Of course, that might not be enough to sway the “community” cited by Spectrum news, but it’s certainly a start. As of now, Gonzalez has yet to be reprimanded for his conduct. On the contrary, the NYPD has actually openly supported Gonzalez, claiming 50 Cent had issued his own threats.

Lil Pump Encourages Harvard Students To “Stay In School” During Q&A

 Gregg DeGuire/Getty Images

By Jove, he actually made it to Harvard.

Though Lil Pump‘s Harverd Dropout has struggled out the gate, projected to hit 32 on the US album charts, the young rapper has been hitting the promotional circuit with head held high. While the rapper originally suggested he would be giving the university’s 2019 commencement speech, such fancies were swiftly dispelled by Harvard’s higher-ups. Despite the fact that Pump’s label WB doubled down on the commencement speech narrative, Harvard ultimately went with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to hold the honor. In fact, it stands to reason that Pump was never in the running to begin with.Such obstacles didn’t stop the self-proclaimed Dropout from hitting the campus. The rapper proceeded to hold it down for WHRB Harvard Radio, who hosted an event in his honor. The “Lil Pump Herverd Takeover” found Pump offering his take on a commencement speech, which found the rapper (slightly) breaking character to deliver an inspirational message.“All the kids stay in school, dead ass,” he says. “A lot of people think dropping out of school is cool, but that shit is not cool at all. A lot of n***as dropping out of school be ending up homeless or drug addicts, you know? So what I want all ya’ll kids to do is live your best life, live your dream, and don’t listen to nobody man, don’t let any of these weird-ass fu*k n***as stop you from doing what you want to do! Do what you want n***a!  In an admittedly hilarious moment of self-awareness, Lil Pump circles back to his viral “70, n***a!” moment, after being revisited with the same mathematical question that thwarted him so long ago.

XXXTentacion Estate Sued For $1 Million By “Look At Me!” Producer

 Bennett Raglin/Getty Images

Jimmy Duval wants to clear things up.

A few years ago, XXXTentacion started to get some buzz, finally blowing up with his breakout single “Look At Me!” We all know how his story ended, tragically passing away at the hands of four alleged robbers while leaving a motorsports store. His family is gushing over the birth of Gekyume Onfroy, XXX’s baby boy, who he unfortunately will never get to meet. Now, the late rapper’s estate will need to momentarily shift their focus to a lawsuit that has just been presented by one of the “Look At Me!” producers.

According to XXL, Jimmy Duval is suing XXXTentacion’s estate for $1 million, asking for unpaid royalties from the song that boosted X’s career. While he is technically asking for $1 million, the amount is negotiable according to the producer. He intended to keep this a private matter but, since he was left off of the credits for the song, he felt a need to come forward. Duval issued a statement, which you can read below.

“It was my intention to keep the pending matter involving the estate of the late XXX Tentacion a private matter. However, in lieu of recent developments and out of respect for someone who was truly a legend in his own right and someone I called my friend, it is imperative that I clear things up. It is important to note that as the producer behind “Look at me”, an inarguable platinum hit, I was removed from all credits, which in turn meant that all rights and royalties owed to me, were immediately averted. It goes without saying that everyone deserves credit for their contributing works. My friend is no longer with us and Im only asking to remain a part of the legacy that we created together with “Look at me”. X changed my life and the lives of many others and we want to continue widening the positive impact that our music creates. I would never under any circumstances disrespect X or his legacy. Im only asking for what is rightful and fair.”

Shortly after the lawsuit was made public, DJ Scheme took to Twitter to call out the producer. “Jimmy Duval is a fucking pussy for this…” wrote X’s DJ.

Post Malone’s Girlfriend Targeted By Trolls, He Responds

 Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images

Post Malone hits back at trolls trying to get him to leave his girlfriend.

If you follow Post Malone on Twitter, you likely saw his message earlier today about how some fans are trying to get him and his girlfriend to split up. When you’re in the public eye, that tends to happen pretty often. Just look at what happened to Cardi B and Offset. Offset ended up commenting “Y’all won” directly after their split, directing the message to those who objected against their relationship. Now, Post Malone has been forced to speak out about his fans’ behavior after finding his girl’s social pages.

“To my REAL fans I love you to death,” began the Texan. “To the people trying to dig so fucking hard to try and get me to leave my girl, y’all ain’t real fans and it needs to stop. Have some respect. who gives a fuck? let us live our lives.” Obviously, if you’re unfamiliar with Posty’s personal life (as many of us are) then the previous statement is confusing. Thanks to XXL, we know that people managed to find old photos that Post’s girlfriend used to post on Instagram and those same shots were reposted after she deactivated her account. The acts that fans have taken are shameful and can be considered bullying, so Malone felt a need to speak up.

It seems like Post and his girl are working through it, though it may be an emotional time for them.

Kanye West Interviewed Shayne Oliver For Relaunch Of Hood By Air

 Cindy Ord/Getty Images

Hood By Air is on its way back to the fold.

Kanye West has always had an affinity for streetwear and fashion and that was on full display when he sat down with Shayne Oliver for Interview MagazineOliver is the man behind Hood By Air, a brand that was actually shut down in 2017. Since then, Oliver has worked for brands like Helmut Lang and Colmar but according to this brand new interview, Hood By Air is actually coming back. When asked by Ye about how the brand got off its feet, Oliver explained how the brand never had any official backing.

“The marvel of HBA is that we never really had a backer backer. We always did it on our own … It was an insane ride and we felt like we wanted to elevate to the next level. Then we began a partnership with New Guards Group in Italy, and that was only a temporary situation. After [Fall 2016], we kinda had to come back to be on our own. That was when the question came up: “Why am I doing this?””

Kanye also complemented Oliver by saying that he feels as though Hood By Air helped to elevate streetwear. Oliver was pretty modest when hit with the praise as he explained that streetwear is something that anybody can be a part of no matter what walk of life.

“I think that opens streetwear up to a larger market of people, because the culture it comes from is very insular. It’s weird because they say that about fashion people, but it’s the same thing within the streetwear world, you know what I mean? When I see streetwear, I see silhouettes. Some people tend to be more intuitive about it, like the people that I grew up with from inner-city backgrounds, but in the larger discussion about luxury, streetwear is already in the merchandising plan.”

Rich The Kid Announces “The World Is Yours 2” Release Date

 Lars Niki/Getty Images

Rich The Kid’s new album arrives next month.

Rich The Kid‘s been plotting on the release of his follow-up to The World Is Yoursfor a minute. In January, the rapper revealed the 80s inspired artwork for the project but didn’t share a release date. As he dropped off his single, “4 Phones” earlier today, Rich The Kid also announced the project’s release date.

Cindy Ord/Getty Images

Rich The Kid’s new project The World Is Yours 2 is set to arrive on March 22nd, 2019. The rapper made the announcement via Spotify Canvas, which, as Complexpointed out, makes him the first mainstream rapper to make use of the Spotify tool. The release date for The World Is Yours 2 comes a few days short of the one year anniversary of his major label debut, The World Is Yours.

Rich The Kid kicked off the campaign for his new album in December when he released the song, “Splashin” which is presumably the first single off of the project. Over the course of 2018 following the release of The World Is Yours, the rapper released a ton of one-off singles such as “Leave Me” and “Nasty.”

Earlier this year, the tracklist to the project was posted to Migos Twitter before being quickly taken down. The tracklist featured the newly-released, “4 Phones” as well as “Splashin.”

Keep your eyes peeled for Rich The Kid’s The World Is Yours 2 dropping next month.

Travis Scott Reportedly Staying Clear From Jordyn Woods Drama

 Theo Wargo/Getty Images

Travis Scott is living the tour life until the smoke clears.

Travis Scott has another reason to be grateful for the success of Astroworld and it’s not because of any Billboard accomplishment or accolade. According to TMZ, the rapper’s tour is keeping him as far away as possible from the Kardashian-Jenner household amid the Jordyn Woods scandal. The rapper touches down in Buffalo tonight, keeping him miles and miles away from the Calabasas controversy.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Apparently, the family has “declared war” on Tristan Thompson for hooking up with Jordyn while they’ve urged Kylie to cut ties with her best friend. She’s agreed but everyone thinks she’s truly indecisive of her decision because of her tightknit relationship with Jordyn.

While Travis Scott might be appreciating the tour life now more than ever, he has been trying to hold does his lady throughout it all and lending her an ear whenever she needs someone to listen. However, he doesn’t really have any sides to choose from so ultimately, he’s going along with whatever Kylie’s decision is.

While he’s been distancing himself from the Kardashians in California, he was recently honored with the key to the city of Houston, Texas earlier this month. The mayor of the city presented the key to Scott on stage and revealed that they’ll be building a new amusement park due to the enthusiasm he brought with Astroworld.

“We owe so much to this guy for keeping Houston on the map,” the Mayor said about Travis. “With ‘Astroworld,’ man, and those of us that remember Astroworld, and because of him, we’re gonna bring another amusement theme park back to the city. This city loves you.”

Co-Founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke Is Planning “Roc-A-Fella” Biopic

 Nicholas Hunt/Getty Images

Biggs wants to tell the story of Roc-A-Fella’s three founding fathers.

Weeks ago, it was reported that Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke was back in the game, with the unveiling of a management company, his first client: cult favorite SAINt JHN. But he’s since spoken with Revolt TV for an interview where he deconstructed his plans to produce a biopic for the record label he helped bring to life in the 90s.

“Yeah, I’m working on it now,” Biggs told Revolt TV. “It’ll probably be separate stories of Jay, Damon [Dash] and myself. Showing us as kids to understand what we’ve went through — the pain and hardships.”

As he opined himself, Biggs has already laid out the storytelling framework, with three separate converging narratives, elucidating the come-up story of the three founding fathers of the ROC, himself included. In the Revolt interview, Biggs spoke about his struggles living in homeless shelters before the hitting pay dirt with the formidable three. He also hopes to gain a clearance that would allow him to retell Jay-Z’s early struggles of losing his father at the age of four and the similarly tragic circumstances that plagued a teenage Dame Dash. You can view the rest of the Revolt piece here.

Offset Gets Lost In The Sauce On “Hot Ones”

 Nicholas Hunt/Getty Images

Offset mentally prepares for “The Last Dab.”

Hot Ones comes through with another solid episode, this time tapping man of the hour and noted father of four, Offset. A self-professed fan of “mild,” and “mild” alone, Offset seems in good spirits at the onset of the spice gauntlet. Easily tackling questions on fashion, Freakazoid, and his jewelry, Offset continues his newfound habit of candor. Before long, Sean hits Offset with an interesting question about the Migosrapper’s habit of studying music industry analytics. “The numbers match up to what you are,” explains Offset. “Your worth go by your numbers. The lower the numbers, the lower your worth. That’s just how it is. As an artist, you can get lost in your mind thinking you somewhere else, like ‘I’m this good, I’m big.’ In actuality, your numbers might not match.” When Sean asks about any surefire way to craft a rap fit, Offset keeps it simple. “The Migos flow,” he states. “At one point in your career as an artist, you’re going to use that flow.”

Charley Gallay/Getty Images

Offset also reveals that Ric Flair personally called him, informing him that “Ric Flair Drip” was to be the official anthem of the Flair wedding. “I’m like he seriously finna walk his marriage listening to a rap song, usually it’s like a love song. When I seen his walk, he was lit, he was happy. He told me it was one of the best things to ever happen to him. He was going through a little health issue, he was like, it just gave him more drive. It was inspirational. Ric Flair was the first one with these rolexes and these jets.”

He also opens up about revealing some of the nontraditional elements of a trapper’s life, including the more vulnerable moments. “It’s okay to show a vulnerable side as a man. It’s really a great thing to do as a man, cause most men run from it,” says Offset. “I feel like you a stronger man by doing it. Instead of holding back, you just holding back your feelings, and that’s not true. We all got feelings, I don’t care how tough you supposed to be.”

For more from Offset, including a hard-fought “Last Dab,” check out the full episode of Hot Ones below.
