Snoop Dogg Links Up With Nardwuar For 10th Time: “Get Him Out Of Mannequin Mode”

 Kevin Winter/Getty Images

Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo…

Snoop Dogg‘s tenth EVER interview with inimitable Nardwuar started on the politest of terms. The taping commences with Nardwuar poking around the grounds of a Vancouver music festival where Snoop is slated to play. Finally, he spots a publicist with connections to Snoop, who seems all the way happy to make a tenth Nardwuar interview come into existence.

But inevitably the final decision was solely Snoop’s to make, but Nardwuar seemed fairly confident it would happen. In the year 2018, we witnessed Snoop Dogg clinch a Hollywood square, but he certainly didn’t come of age overnight, or by virtue of the Tinsel Town recognition. Just like his favorite interviewer Nardwuar, Snoop Dogg doesn’t traverse time like a normal human being. He is timeless, Nardwuar is timeless, it makes for a good conversation.

So as Snoop Dogg exits the makeshift dressing room, Nardwuar simply asks, “perhaps an interview,” to which the Long Beach legend politely responds, “For You, I Will.” Before you know it, Uncle Snoop all kinds of left field, commensurate with all of Nardwuar’s left field paraphernalia. Nard even asks Snoop to elaborate on the P.I.M.P. metrics he began to describe on “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” all the way back in the R&G era.

As the interview comes to a close, Snoop Dogg casting doubt over the necessity of Nardwuar’s “mannequin pose” after they’ve come this far. “Somebody get him out of mannequin mode,” he asks while motioning to the support staff in the background – but as always, Nardwuar made like a statue until the setting of the sun, thus preserving his mythology for another day.

Nicki Minaj Stunned By History-Making Win: “Was Someone Gonna Tell Me?”

 Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic/Getty Images

She made waves overseas.

Nicki Minaj is celebrating her victory at the Brit Awards. The rapper’s collaboration with Little Mix claimed the trophy for Best Artist Video of The Year on Wednesday, February 20. Minaj was not able to attend the ceremony and was taken aback by the honor. She apparently became the second female rap artist to win a Brit Award since Lauryn Hill‘s pioneering achievement in 1997.The good news didn’t travel from London fast enough. The “Barbie Tingz” artist celebrated a couple of days after the event. She posted a photo of Little Mix cheering onstage on Friday. Her caption expressed wonder and gratitude. “When was someone gonna tell me?” she asked.

Although Nicki couldn’t attend the award ceremony held at the O2 arena, Little Mix still offered a stunning performance of their hit single. They enlisted Ms Banks to step in for her fellow emcee. The choice was only natural, considering Minaj’s admiration of the fresh talent. In 2017, she gave props to Banks via social media

“I’d had a show in Leeds the night before and I was waking up quite early to take a train back to London and I just saw loads of tweets saying congratulations and I just was really confused,” Ms Banks explained. “I saw a few tweets that had Nicki involved but I didn’t get it, and then I just saw she’d been quoting my lyrics and I couldn’t believe it.

Ja Rule Places “30-Year Curse” On Timberwolves Following Awkward Halftime Gig

Ja Rule’s halftime concert in Milwaukee was met with a real lack of zest.

Ja Rule stank up the joint,” could it be? The consensus on Twitter is that Ja Rule underwhelmed in his halftime performance at a Milwaukee Bucks game last night. Fortunately for Ja, that’s not how his fans view the situation, those of which who posted lovely messages of support underneath a social post commemorating the occasion.

But of course, the Internet trolls came out in droves. The fact video/audio footage exists depicting a Ja Rule getting no “pop” whatsoever from a seemingly unenthused Minnesota crowd.

To make matters even worse, the Bucks players began their warmup interlude, on the court might I add, before Ja Rule could even wrap up his set. Watch as the cameraman loses focus on the performance at hand, to shadow the “Greek Freak’s” warmup up shots – savage, I tell you.

Ja Rule was taking the lack of interest in stride until he’d noticed a disparaging tweet issued by the Minnesota Timberwolves social media dept, insinuating that everyone involved in the production, including the visiting club, came out a loser due to Ja Rule’s “piss poor” performance. “We too were hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead astray,” the Minnesota Timberwolves wrote in a Twitter musing that remains posted (as of this writing).

Ja Rule took the fight directly to the ‘Wolves front office, suggesting they’d made a cursed mistake in messing with the GOD, as he chose to refer to himself. Ja’s inference of a “kiss of death” hearkens back to the days when Lil B held the Sporting World at ransom. For the record, Ja Rule did invariably place a 30-year championship curse, something he likely didn’t have to commit himself to, judging by the team’s overlying dysfunction.

50 Cent’s Targets Of The Week: Fif Goes On The “Crooked Cop” Crusades

 Dave Kotinsky/Getty Images

This week, Kanye West, Jussie Smollett, and Emanuel Gonzalez all took a walloping at the hands of 50 Cent.

Even a bully of 50 Cent‘s stature and media savvy requires a little maintenance between thrashings. Unfortunately, the week that was Sunday, February 17th through Sunday afternoon, didn’t allow for much respite. Just as the murmurs of a “Gucci boycott” began quieting down, 50 Cent’s entire being and Universe was suddenly turned upside down – by news of an alleged NYPD-sponsored bounty on his head.

Cindy Ord/Getty Images

To my surprise, Fif played it off as if he were completely unaffected. Personally-speaking, the thought of NYPD underlings running defiantly with a “shoot on sight” directive, sends shivers down my spine, and I’m standing safely out of bounds.

50 Cent wound up using the alleged bounty to sell one of his cable network TV shows, what else? Then he picked an indiscriminate fight with a public figure who’d seen his fortunes reversed in the span of a week. And then it happened again: 50 Cent, with all the insolence he could muster, fell trap to a fake “Kanye West” news alert floating in negligible space.

The mugshot we all knew was coming.

Chicago police say Jussie Smollett staged his attack because he was ‘dissatisfied with his salary’

As the weeks turn to months, the pattern in which 50 Cent operates on social media has become easy to discern. If and when 50 believes he’s overstepped his bounds, or liable to lose a zero-sum contest, he simply powers forward like nothing ever happened. So, how did he fare in a week where “impartiality” looked unfathomable, even for the Mr. Rogers of the neighborhood? Let’s find out by first looking into this “The Oath” he imparted on NYPD’s internal affairs.

To quote Jay-Z, who once famously bickered over the value of a 50 Cent cent coin, “Crooked officer, crooked officer! Why you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?” While no relation exists between 50 Cent and Jay-Z’s questioning of law enforcement in 2008, the lyrics resonate to this day, especially with regards to Emanuel Gonzalez, the commanding officer who ordered the halfwit bounty on 50 Cent’s head.

It’s been reported ad nauseam, and yes: Emanuel Gonzalez urged his underlings to “shoot him on sight,” because he and 50 have a history of taking jabs at one another. It was after all Gonzalez with whom the NYPD entrusted with the crackdown on 50 Cent’s “Get the Strap” slogan. The NYPD feared the popular expressive could incite violence through its perceived lethal connotations, and pervasive appeal on the Internet.

Embedded video

👀look at this fool, he says let me tell you about the threats 50cent made. 🤷🏽‍♂️oh shit there’s no threats 😳ok well, I’m asking NY Commissioner O’Neal to charge 50cent with the last 3 murders in New York. 🤨Emanuel Gonzalez is a dirty Cop.

2,267 people are talking about this

As a result of the crackdown, legions of 50 Cent fans started harassing Gonzalez and his constituents at any given opportunity. It formed the basis of a contentious relationship with real-life consequences. Fortunately for 50 Cent, an NYPD-sponsored audit into Gonzalez’ actions, and a wee bit of insubordination helped swing the pendulum in his favor.

Had Emanuel Gonzalez taken the bait, and responded to any of 50 Cent’s insults at such a crucial moment, the disgraced officer may have been liable to further punishment. That alone would have given 50 Cent the impetus to spend all his waking hours administering “cheap shots,” as much as he could muster with Gonzalez couched in the NYPD doghouse.

Elsewhere on the docket, 50 Cent picked a one-sided fight with Jussie Smollett, the disenfranchised Empire actor whose every bespoken action has become an article of mass consumption. The Jussie Smollett story needs little introduction; the Chicago PD have evidence negating the hate crimes that he reported, and that’s just the beginning of the sordid mess.

50 Cent was evidently preying upon the very same “sensational elements” which have pitted Smollett against a host public figures with their own agenda and cause. 50 Cent revived interest in the scandal by reposting the meme that pokes fun at Smollett’s self-immolation as the “Gay Tupac” incarnate of our era – comments he made during a concert shortly after the staged “attack.”

As is normally the custom, 50 Cent filed his response to Smollett, on Instagram, where a doctored cover shot of 2Pac‘s All Eyez on Me with a superimposed “Jussie” smile lie in wait.

“It’s 2019 people, things are a little different now. Commander Emanuel Gonzalez would say, if you see him shoot him on sight,” wrote 50 cent, as the caption to the uncredited oeuvre.

Unfortunately, 50 Cent didn’t fare quite as well, when he embarked on a smear campaign with Kanye West as his target. It all occurred so unsuspectingly: 50 Cent was scouring the social media feed like any other hoople, when a headline reading “Kanye West Scores 126 Points Against Wheelchair Basketball Team” popped up on his radar.

He he. Kanye West scored over 100 points in charity basketball against wheelchair players.

See Abosi’s other Tweets

Of course, the fake “Kanye West” news alert was uploaded under a heavily doctored thumbnail – so fake, that even an amateur MS Paint enthusiast such as 50 Cent would spot the difference. But in this instance, an 50 Cent figures he’d make a lewd joke, for no other reason but to sublimate his depleting serotonin levels for well-earned pick me up.

Had 50 Cent not reposted it the Kanye meme/headline, its urban mythology would have sunk like Waldo in a sea of clones, but he didn’t and the story gained a whole lot of unnecessary traction.

Otherwise, the week was like any other for 50 Cent: he bickered with Teairra Marí, she bickered back. Her insistence being: Tekashi 6ix9ine distilled his snitchy ways by associating with the Jamaica, Queens rapper. Marí was the Queen of the ROc for a brief moment after Amil stepped out of the limelight, and now she and 50 Cent are reduced to squabbling over tater tots the shape of a $.

Eminem Shatters Attendance Record: 81,000 Aussie Fans Join Together For “Lose Yourself”

81 thou+ singing “Lose Yourself” at the top of their lungs, it all went down in Australia.

Eminem‘s tour of Australia has been eventful, to say the least. The venerable Hip-Hop megastar is attracting record crowds decades into his illustrious career. This past week we reported the incidence of a little hate-mongering at Em’s Brisbane concert. As the crowd jeered the Detroit-born rapper to perform “Killshot” but he kindly rejected. “I would but I don’t want to give that cocksucker any more fuc*ing light,” he exclaimed. “Make some noise for your-fuc*in-selves and make nothing for MGK.”

At one point, Em just stood smack center of the stage in disbelief, exclaiming, “this is the most people I’ve ever seen in one place in my f*cking life.”

Joey Bada$$ Delivers Episode 4 of “47 Minutes” Podcast Co-Starring J.I.D

 Andrew Toth/Tommaso Boddi/Getty Images

J.I.D sits down with Joey Bada$$ and NasteeLuvzYou for Ep. 4 of Tidal’s Pro Era podcast.

Back in January of last year, Joey Bada$$ announced his intentions to do a “Pro Era” podcast he would be naming “47 Minutes” to coincide with the jagged airtime he’d be giving his fans, at somewhat of an unpredictable. So far, Joey has published 4 episodes under the 47 Minutes banner, the latest of which was released just yesterday. Lucky for us, Joey Bada$$ and NasteeLuvzYou decided to go with J.I.D, an artist with enough chutzpah to keep pace with all the conspiracy plots circling the Pro Era boardroom. The interview process feels a lot more like a conversation amongst friends. J.I.D being by explaining some of the conceptual decisions he made on his last DiCaprio record. He and J.I.D agree that an “organic” album making process is what suits them best. Of course, Joey talks about the forthcoming Pro Era group project a whole lot too.At one point the discussion becomes one about making discerning art in the age Capitalism. NasteeLuvzYou fires off a proverb, that’s been unfairly attributed to Jimi Hendrix because he quoted it in a song. They all agree, “the power of love overcomes the love of power,” but not without the support of their Dreamville/Pro Era bubbles.Check out the Tidal-sponsored segment, and hit us with your thoughts in the comment section below. If you like ep. 4, you’ll probably the first 3 too: Flatbush ZombiesVince Staples & Styles P, and Lil Yachty & Statik Selektah, all in the cut with Joey and NasteeLuvzYou.

R. Kelly’s Lawyer To Press: “He’s A Rock Star, Doesn’t Have Nonconsensual Sex”

 Scott Olson/Getty Images

R. Kelly’s attorney gets into it with a Chicago-based cultural critic.

R. Kelly‘s attorney held a press conference in response to his client’s bond being set at the princely amount of $1 million. With the media all assembled in one place, attorney Steve Greenberg began discrediting his client’s accusers one after the other.“On one of the cases, there are a number of interviews where the young lady says, ‘I lied about how old I was,’” Greenberg tells reporters at the 8:05 mark of the above video, – “and then recently said, ‘Oh no, I lied about lying about how old I was.’”Soon after making those claims, Jim DeRogatis, an American music critic based out of Chicago, interrupts Greenberg to point out a negligible error, because theoretically speaking, the accuser in question did show R. Kelly an ID card, after coming to grips with their dysfunctional arrangement. “Don’t misquote a victim, Mr. Greenberg,” DeRogatis interjects. “That’s not what she said.. she was here today. Did you see her tears?”

At this point, Greenberg singles DeRogatis out by questioning his objectivity – suggesting the writer’s upcoming book on the R. Kelly case, past and present, is the reason to believe he’s part of the opposition party.

“I don’t give a fuck about selling a single book,” DeRogatis fired back. “I’ve talked to that woman, and I’ve talked to 47 others. I’m not Mr. [Michael] Avenatti and I’m not you.”

Greenberg eventually alleviated the tension by skipping ahead in the discussion. He later reiterated that R. Kelly was a “Rock Star” to quote the 2007 Kellz hit, his point being: “Rock Stars” don’t have a need for “nonconsensual sex,” – riddle me that.

Anderson .Paak’s “ABC World Tour” Bridges All The Necessary Gaps

 Paras Griffin/Getty Images

Buoyed by his Grammy Win, Anderson .Paak brings Joy and community to NYC.

There is no better musician than Anderson .Paak to act as an ambassador of sunny Californian radiance and congeniality. “This one’s for all the little dreamers”, he sang, to close of his breakthrough album, Malibu, casting his music as an expression of community-building, an ode to idealism and childhood mischief, and amiably-populated neighborhood corners.Three years later, as Anderson .Paak embarks on his world tour, that sense of community has persisted— to the point that even the prelude to his performance at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom was absent the irritability and restlessness that tend to build at concerts in the delay between sets. Hipsters mingled with hypebeasts, and older fans no doubt drawn by .Paak’s funk and soul influences, eventually boogying their way from the fringes to join these younger crowds. Anderson .Paak would later ask the audience, “Where are all my weirdos at?” – and not one of these groups would be excluded from the cheers of response.

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

When opener Tayla Parx took the stage, extensive line delays meant that she was performing for a sparsely-filled room, with many people still trying to find their seats. Only her earliest fans crowded the stage, or gave her any appreciable recognition, as she performed songs from her forthcoming album We Need To Talk. One wonders if the yearning, catchy single “Me vs Us” would have been given the attention it deserved had the room been informed that Parx has writing credits on Ariana Grande’s “thank you, next” (and sang right beside her  when Grande performed the song on Ellen) and Anderson .Paak’s “Tints”.

For her part, Tayla Parx hasn’t learned to capture an entire stage, to seize the room. She still takes cautious steps, anchored to an invisible territory circumscribing her microphone stand, like she might become swallowed by the vast expanse of Hammerstein Ballroom if she ventures too far. Regardless, her impressive solo work and collaborations promise future opportunities to grow her performances and fanbase; and as for tonight, Anderson .Paak, ever the communitarian, brought her out in the final songs of his performance to introduce her to anyone who may have missed her set.

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

In a frank admission of Tayla Parx’s still-dim star power, her brief performance was relegated to an opening for an opening, and for a far lesser artist. Funkmaster Flex, hip-hop’s cantankerous old guard, took the stage to satisfy the crowd’s demand for pre-show bangers. Like his more combative counterpart, Charlamagne Tha God, and their offspring, Joe Budden, Funk Flex has remained a fixture of the culture by becoming a tell-it-like-it-is patriarch, delivering punditry with such crisp cadence, confidence, and an unassailable ethos derived from his proximity to hip-hop’s golden age. He presents opinions with such seemingly airtight logic that, despite being on the losing end of so many beefs, he finds his way onto the bill for every big act passing through New York.

The grand irony of this status is how acutely overlooked he is by the youngest generation (and largest demographic) of concert goers. Some people in the audience may have recognized him from the Knockdown Center, where he left the stage before Juice Wrld’s performance in frustration over the subdued response to his set; more likely they see him as just another DJ shuffling radio hits. Flex’s moment of most genuine connection with the crowd came near its end when he asked us, “How many people here are under 25?”, to which the venue burst into cheers. Was this question just a survey to help decide what to play next? Genuine curiosity? An existential crisis as he faced his own diminished popularity?

With the stage cleared for Anderson .Paak, calm and solidarity fell over the crowd again. People mingled, people crossed social groups. We were impatient, but not grumpy. A joint tossed into a trashcan kindled a small fire, but rather than create panic, the few people who dealt with the ordeal grew closer— just what .Paak would want. At last when the man arrived, we were ready and not ready, expectant and surprised.

Anderson .Paak detonated with a drum solo, alone behind a thin screen that glowed fiery, primeval red and projected his shadow in a dozen locations across its surface. The man was everywhere, playing every sound— a potent visual symbol of his multi-instrumental virtuosity. It was almost easy not to notice, preoccupied with the artillery-blare of percussion and bass vibrating up your throat, that this was the song “The Chase” off of his recent album Oxnard. Anderson .Paak, the once homeless, struggling father, doesn’t hide how proud he is of his newfound fame, the validation of a Grammy win; and the early parts of his set reflected this. He couldn’t withhold “Bubblin”, the single that netted him a Grammy for Best Rap Performance, for longer than five minutes into his set. It’s a song about celebrating success, and the song that brought him even more success, so why keep it to himself? He was extending an invitation for all of us to celebrate along with him.

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

The concert became a joyous journey through some of the happiest tracks of .Paak’s career, spanning his early work as part of NxWorries; his debut album, Venice; and up to Oxnard. Incidentally, his most joyous moments are also the biggest crowd-pleasers. When .Paak performed “Milk N Honey” and “Heart Don’t Stand a Chance”, he frequently turned his microphone on the audience to sing the lyrics in his place— and they never missed a line. Images of California palm trees, open skies, and planetary disks streamed on the screen behind him, periodically replaced with Anderson .Paak’s big, grinning face. These good feelings culminated in a daring stage dive during a rendition of “Saviers Road”. It was a clever rejoinder to the song’s line “I’m too old to act childishly”. But this was the night to act childishly, if childish means happy to be alive. There were no melancholic hits like “The Bird” or “The Seasons/Carry Me”: there was once a time for mourning and there may well be more time for it in the future, but not tonight. Tonight is for all the little dreamers.

The most impressive aspect of the performance, along with Anderson .Paak’s virtuosity and unbending voice, was how fluidly he managed to change modes. His music occupies so many colors, from the intensity and immediacy of hip-hop to the burning longing of soul and funk, and yet at no point did the set seem scattered. There was never a misstep in switching from a slow, swaying funk beat, into a song like “At Least I know”, Anderson’s obscure collaboration with T.I. Much of the credit for this fluidity is owed to The Free Nationals, Anderson .Paak’s touring band and his frequent collaborators. Their value was not lost on Anderson, who took a moment to introduce each band member, shout them out in several songs, and even stepped aside so they could play their own single, “Beauty and Essex”, a collaboration with Daniel Caesar.

Scott Legato/Getty Images

This concert was such that even retrospect doesn’t offer a clear high point. The jubilation that Anderson .Paak introduced from the first moments expanded and spread unabated through the vast concert hall, even as he stopped performing to banter with the crowd or rearrange the stage for a new song. And even as confetti exploded over the ballroom, there was a sense that the concert was only going to get better from there— and it did. The high points came in the little moments when you looked around and realized how blessed you were to be sharing the room with Anderson .Paak, and for him, came when he realized how blessed he was to have this crowd.

At one moment, prompted by nothing particularly poignant, Anderson .Paak stopped mid-singing and said simply, “Wow”. At another moment he again stopped in the middle of his set and just said, “Beautiful”. Maybe it was that the stage lights had just passed over the ethereal, ornate painting across the ceiling of the Hammerstein Ballroom, and Anderson .Paak was looking back on how far he had come, or maybe it was just the happiness, the community in the room.

When I recall the final song of the night, the latter explanation makes the most sense. Anderson .Paak closed with a touching tribute to his friend Mac Miller. “One time for Mac”, he said, before performing their collaboration, “Dang!”, a photo of him and Mac overlayed on the screen. In another room, on another night, it would have been as somber as it was moving. Instead, this memoriam was just as joyous as the two hours that preceded it, his performance as if to say to Mac Miller not “I’m sorry you’re gone”, but, “Thank you for having been here”.

And after the song, the crowd walked slowly out to the streets, some saying exactly those words out loud, and everyone else thinking some version of it and sending their thoughts out to him, saying, “Thank you, Anderson .Paak, for being here tonight.”

Offset, Gunna & Freddie Gibbs Conquer This Week’s “FIRE EMOJI” Playlist

 Pascal Le Segretain/Cassidy Sparrow/Isaac Brekken/Getty Images

Tune in to our weekly mix of the biggest rap and R&B tracks.

This week’s FIRE EMOJI playlist feels proportionately hype, based on the sample variance created by Offset’s impressive debut and Gunna‘s second of two Drip or Drop projects. Offset’s Father Of 4 was especially engrossing considering the personal narrative it came brandishing. With Cardi B on the cusp of resigning her membership as the unofficial 4th Migos‘, Offset has little choice but to come out swinging this past week.Three of our submissions to the FIRE EMOJI playlist were basically handpicked from Offset’s debut, including the apologetic intro where a wizened Big Rude dispenses supra logic like ever before. This week’s playlist also ventures into the wilder pastures of the project, with the inclusion of “How Did I Get Here” featuring a vagabond J. Cole, and “Wild Wild West” featuring Gunna, who as I might have mentioned, staged one “helluva” week himself. “Same Yung N***a” featuring Playboi Carti, and the playful “3 Headed Snake” invoking Lil Baby in spirit, with the vocal impressions of a YSL legend in Young Thug.Last but not least, Freddie Gibbs came crashing out the gate this past Wednesday, with the first inference of his long-anticipated Madlib sequel. On “Flat Tummy Tea,” Gibbs toyed with the idea of commodity culture while rejecting it all the same. Elsewhere on the docket, Lil Pump grabbed a spot off the strength of his Lil Wayne duet, Night Lovell with “MENTAL SLAVERY” a song he co-wrote with Lil West, as well as of host of other hip-hop dignitaries like HoodRich Pablo Juan, Birdman, Juvenile, Kehlani, and 6LACK, just to name a few.Listen to the FIRE EMOJI and follow all of HNHH Spotify playlists below.—-Follow HNHH on Spotify.Follow FIRE EMOJI on Spotify.Follow our freshly-updated Wake & Bake playlist here.Follow our G.O.O.D. Lupe Fiasco Gives Credit To Mos Def Song For His Clean Water Initiative

 Scott Legato/Getty Images

“New World Water” laid the foundation for Lupe’s awareness of the water crisis.

Lupe Fiasco gave his Zero Mass Water keynote speech at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. He presented SOURCE, designed by Zero Mass, a hydro panel technology that uses only sunlight and air to produce five liters of drinking water daily per home. In a recent interview with Vibe, the rapper revealed the musical inspiration behind his humanitarian endeavor. Mos Def’s work was instrumental.-

“I was in high school and I remember just getting Black On Both Sides, and that record was super pivotal for me because I was still practicing Islam, or at least trying to, to a certain degree. Mos is top 10 incredible emcee and he is able to put a really good album together. So that record, I lived with forever,” he began. “That and Nas’ It Was Written were two albums that were like, this is what a rap album should sound like. It should have all these different kinds of things on it. He had the club record, the love record, the rap record, and then he had kind of the informational records, and that was the ‘New World Water’ and ‘Mathematics.’”

“‘New World Water‘ stood out because it was focused on this one subject, which I did not know too much about at that time. I was 17, 18, and it was so different from anything you hear on another rap album. It’s water, but he went through all of it: politically, environmentally, socially, chemically,” Lupe Explained. “I think it’s one of those things that only a rapper could do, or only a poet could do: take this subject and hit it in all these different areas and components. It just kind of got bookmarked in my mind: water is an issue, water’s a problem, water’s a right.”

Gunna’s NY Launch Of “Drip Or Drown 2” Begins With A Scary Stampede

Gunna’s NY launch of “Drip or Drown 2” begins in chaos.

As promisedGunna held his Drip or Drown 2 listening party in a giant-sized aquarium – but the YSL rapper also kept his close-knit fanbase abreast with a second launch party, in midtown NYC. As you’ll soon bear witness yourself, Gunna’s literally burst out the gate, as soon as the Lightbox venue opened its doors to the public.

After ensuring that none of his fans were trampled under foot, Gunna jumped on Twitter in the wake of the listening/performance to laud the fanaticism on display. “This is What happen at my NY Experience,” he wrote on Instagram, after completing his ceremonial duties. “I LOVE my DIEHARD #DOD2 Soon soon.”

A rep who spoke with Page Six in the aftermath of the event, confirming that no one was hurt during the gate-crashing incident. “No one was hurt, thank goodness. By the time that happened, we were three songs in, and we weren’t letting anyone in, but a fan managed to find a way and so did other people,” confirmed Gunna’s reps.

According to the incident report filed shortly thereafter, illustrates the sudden impact of the gate-crashing incident, as 20 individuals plowed right over security before the uniformed personnel restored order in the joint.

Ja Rule Calls Fyre Festival’s Blowjob Watergate A “Very Crazy Situation”

He shakes his head at the ordeal.

One of the most sensational parts of the Fyre Festival documentaries was Andy King’s willingness to offer oral sex in exchange for water. The event organizer ultimately managed to get the tanks released from customs without the sexual favor encouraged by the infamous Billy Mcfarland. When asked to comment on the surprising incident, Ja Rule explained that he wasn’t present when the plan to turn the trick was initiated.”I’ve just seen clips of it. That’s it,” he said, shaking his head with a slight smile. “Very crazy situation.” The rapper has yet to sit down and watch any of the Fyre Festival documentaries in full.

The failed event followed by its scandal became a lesson for Ja Rule. “For any young visionary or entrepreneur just be hands-on with your stuff, if it’s your baby and you want to create something amazing for the world to see, make sure you see it through, make sure you are the one overseeing everything, make sure you are the CEO of the company, even if you are not an experienced CEO,” the 42-year-old said.

“You know it is okay to make some mistakes along the way and that’s what I learned the most, I am not an experienced CEO and I didn’t want to make the mistakes but obviously, the CEO (Billy McFarland) of the company made the biggest mistake of them all. So I learned a lot from the situation and I am just looking forward to the next thing.”

R. Kelly’s Mugshot Revealed, Arraignment Scheduled In Sexual Abuse Case

 Scott Legato/Getty Images

R. Kelly is already heading to court.

R. Kelly is facing 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving 4 alleged victims. The singer surrendered himself to legal authorities Friday, February 22, and his mugshot was released soon after. Kelly’s arraignment is scheduled just days after his arrest, set for March 8.His attorney, Steve Greenberg, maintains his client’s innocence. He believes Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx succumbed to the public opinion’s pressure. “I think all the women are lying,” Greenberg said. “Mr. Kelly is strong, he’s got a lot of support and he’s going to be vindicated on all these charges — one by one if it has to be.”

Scott Olson/Getty Images

Video evidence of Kelly’s alleged abuse of a victim was announced earlier this month by Michael Avenatti. He gave the tape to the State’s attorney’s office, hoping that it would prompt a whole new case against the R&B icon. “This tape leaves no question as to whether R. Kelly is guilty of multiple sexual, illegal acts against a 14-year-old girl,” he told reporters Friday, describing Foxx’s investigation as “very thorough … dedicated and methodical.”

A grand jury convened in virtual secrecy following the reception of the tape. Kelly’s attorney said he was not informed of this meeting and revealed that he is unaware of the videotape’s contents.

R. Kelly Won’t Survive Charges, Alleged Victims Lawyer Michael Avenatti Claims

Michael Avenatti says he’d be shocked if R. Kelly walks away.

Michael Avenatti has been fighting to see R. Kelly behind bars following the release of Surviving R. Kelly. The lawyer took on the case pro-bono and because of his work, criminal charges have officially been laid on R. Kelly. Following the news that Kellz was hit with 10 counts of aggressive criminal sexual abuse, Avenatti spoke to SiriusXM’s The Karen Hunter Show sharing his prediction for the outcome of the case.

Phillip Faraone/Getty Images

Avenatti was the one who handed over the tapes of R. Kelly allegedly having sex with an underage girl last week to prosecutors. The investigation into the tapes was a driving force that led to Kellz charges. Avenatti, who has two daughters, said that he’s been quietly working on the case for about 10 months.

“I’m not charging anything for the work that I’ve done because this is an outrageous case and it’s an outrageous abuse of power, targeting some of the most vulnerable people in our society,” Avenatti said. “Mainly young African American girls, many of whom are from the inner city. And I’ve been very moved by it because I have two daughters on my own, 14 and 16, and as a father and listening to some of these parents describe what has transpired and some of these victims, I was outraged by it.”

Avenatti continued to say that there’s a significant amount of evidence against R. Kelly that he’s confident will lead to the singer’s conviction.

“I’m very satisfied today as a father, as a lawyer, as a guy that believes in right and wrong and justice, that the day of reckoning has come for R. Kelly. He will, he will not survive this,” he said. “The evidence is significant. It is insurmountable and I’d be very surprised if after he is convicted, if he ever walks another day free for as long as he lives, and frankly that would be justice in this case because this guy is a predator who is preyed on, again, some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society and he deserves to go away for a very long time.”

Rihanna Spotted Out With Billionaire Boyfriend Hassan Jameel

 Allen Berezovsky/ Getty Images

Rihanna was spotted with billionaire boyfriend Hassan Jameel the other night at the Lakers game.

Rihanna decided to celebrate her 31st birthday the other night by watching LeBron James at the Staples Center as the Los Angeles Lakers took on James Harden & the Houston Rockets. However, she didn’t go alone as she was spotted back with billionaire boyfriend Hassan Jameel who was by her side.

Instead of sitting front row and courtside, the two cheered LeBron on from a private suite with some of Rihanna’s closest friends. RiRi rocked a home LeBron James jersey, while Hassan sat alongside her in a black baseball cap and could be seen smiling while Rihanna passionately cheered on the Lakers.

We tend to forget that Rihanna is still dating Hassan because they’re so rarely seen together. In fact, the last time we saw the two together was back in December when they were spotted at a Malibu restaurant, and prior to that was last year’s Grammy’s after party. So it’s clear Hassan like to stay under the radar, but he apparently made an exception for Rihanna’s b-day.

Check out a few pics of the two at the game (below).

Gunna Speaks On Young Thug’s Influence, Atlanta, & More On “The Breakfast Club”

Gunna stops by “The Breakfast Club” on his release day.

Today is a big day in the world of hip-hop with three major releases coming out. OffsetLil Pump and Gunna all dropped albums today and fans have been tuned in to all three throughout the day. With a handful of other releases on the calendar for today, Drip Or Drown II is one of the records that people are starting with. With features from Lil BabyYoung Thug and Playboi Carti, Gunna didn’t really have to do much promotion for the album. He’s also become a major name in the last year. Still, he managed to stop by The Breakfast Club to chop it up with DJ Envy and Angela Yee.Charlamagne Tha God was absent during Gunna’s interview so the format is a little different than usual. Envy asked the Atlanta rapper about how Young Thug has influenced his career choices, overseeing his distribution. He also touched on a few hot topics, including the current boycott against brands like Gucci, Prada, Moncler and Burberry for their insensitive products. He kept a neutral tone when discussing it, playing it safe by seeing both sides of the story. He’s also thinking of foraying into the fashion world himself, planning to drop a line in the next year or so.Watch the full interview below to learn about his relationship with Lil Baby, his favorite restaurants, and how Atlanta influenced his style.

Offset Reveals That Fatherhood Was “Tough At First”

 Bryan Steffy/Getty Images

The rapper covers “Haute Living” and shared what it was like being a teen father.

Offset‘s Father of 4 is the album that everyone can’t stop talking about after dropping early this morning. The Migos rapper gets personal in his solo project, including offering insight to his once-rocky relationship with wife Cardi B. The Georgia native continued the internet hype surrounding his latest release by sharing a photo of himself in his regal, album cover attire with the caption, “THE FATHER IS THE KING.” You know, for anyone that needed to be reminded that Offset is at the top of his game.

The rapper also covers the latest issue of Haute Living and chats with the magazine about what life has been like since becoming a teen father. “I had my first child at 17, so the journey of fatherhood was kind of tough for me at first,” Offset said. “I was trying to find myself. I didn’t have much direction on what it meant to be a father. I definitely made some mistakes, but I have no regrets. It’s challenging when you have a career like this and you’re constantly on the road. It makes it tough to see your kids, especially when they’re young.”

“Now that I’m older, though, I’m learning my way. Us fathers sometimes don’t always take the best routes,” Offset said about his journey as a dad. “My children are everything to me. And now that they’re getting older, I get to bring them around with me on the road much more, which is amazing. Whenever I get a few days, I bring them with me because I need to spend that time with them.”

What are your thoughts on Father of 4?

Offset Reveals Why He Doesn’t Like Cardi B Calling Him By His Real Name

 Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images

Offset goes undercover on the Internet and reveals a few gems.

Offset promised to give us his life on his debut album Father Of 4 which finally arrived this morning. The rapper revealed a lot about his personal life on his project from his marital problems to his children but what the topics he didn’t address on the project, he did on GQ’s latest episode of “Actually Me.”

Emma McIntyre/Getty Images

Offset is the latest artist to go undercover on the Internet. The rapper fielded questions about his money, jewelry, new music and of course, Cardi B. One Twitter user asked if Cardi calls Offset by his rap name in real life, saying that if she did, it would be “weird af.”

“You know what? She calls me Offset all the time. You know what’s weird? When she calls me Kiari. ‘Cause when she calls me Kiara, the temperature is like… ya know what I’m sayin’? Just not a good moment when she calls me my real name,” he said. “But yeah, she call me Offset, for sure. It’s not weird to me, I rather you call me Offset.”

Offset also revealed why he and the rest of the Migos weren’t fans of SNL’s skit with Childish Gambino.

“We didn’t like that skit because it was, like, total opposite of the Migos,” he said. “And then I felt like it was interpreted like we was some dodo birds. Like, making us go against each other… I didn’t really feel that. We weren’t really feeling it.”

Offset Joined By Cardi B, J. Cole & Travis Scott At “Father Of 4” Listening Party

 Theo Wargo/Getty Images

Offset celebrated his solo debut with a giant game of dress-up.

Offset rang in the dawn of new prosperous era last night at the FATHER OF 4launch party. The self-professed “reformed” parent conjured up all the loved ones he could muster for a party Quality Control billed as an extensive “album listening experience.”

Watch as Offset entered the ballroom with his wife Cardi B close by his side, with gate crushers who weren’t rocking the requisite red given the boot. Cardi B’s diamond ensembled matched the pieces worn by her hubby, on the eve of his solo emancipation. They weren’t alone in ringing in Set’s new dawn, as Travis Scott21 SavageJ. ColeGucci Mane, and Quavo were all pictured in the study, as well.

The event was largely reserved for Offset’s hand-selected guests, whereas a limited number of places were made available via Eventbrite the day of the project’s uncloaking. As you can see, QC spared no expense in making Offset’s party one for the ages. They even helped the Migos rapper produce a lifesize art installation by the back entrance, depicting the lime green Dodge Challenger he dinged up in a near-fatal car accident in 2018. Offset and his closest of kin would then flee the ballroom for an after-party at OAK, just as FATHER OF 4 was being submitted to streaming services, once and for all.

R. Kelly’s Latest Accuser Testified Before Grand Jury With Physical Evidence

 Earl Gibson III/Getty Images

Both of R.Kelly’s latest accusers testified in court; one provided damning evidence.

It’s been confirmed, the two women who stepped forward with another round of R. Kelly allegations, did in fact, testify before a grand jury in Chicago before issuing their press conference. As reported, attorney Gloria Allred is representing the two women over an alleged incident that took place after an R. Kelly concert sometime in the past.

Michael Loccisano/Getty Images

According to TMZ, one of the two accusers even provided physical evidence when she stood before the grand jury. The very same sources have provided a loose “time and date” for the incident, somewhere between 2008 and 2010. The very nature of the material evidence hasn’t been disclosed. The second woman who testified corroborated many of details that were rehashed on Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly, albeit with much less in the way of damning evidence (than her predecessor).

Another high-powered attorney named Michael Avenatti is the legal muscle behind the recent unearthing of yet another R.Kelly sex tape, which is essentially the raison d’être for the Cook County commission coming into fruition. The sex tape in question allegedly depicts R. Kelly committing a sexual act with a 14-year-old girl. So far, R. Kelly’s legal team has responded to the claims, by feigning ignorance over the grand jury assembly, perhaps in an attempt to evade the issue until the ostensible “point of no return,” if it ever comes to that.

Anderson .Paak Teases Unreleased “Album” With Dr. Dre

 Leon Bennett/Getty Images

Anderson .Paak is sitting on some heat, courtesy of the good Doctor.

Anderson .Paak may very well be hip-hop’s most affable character. Good natured and talented, .Paak’s Oxnard album found him exploring a more “rap” focused sound, though some still pined for the soulful funk of Malibu. Still, the collaborative effort between Anderson and his trusted producer Dr. Dre yielded no shortage of bangers, and it’s clear that .Paak had a grand old time concocting the project with his newfound mentor. Now, with the album a few months older, Anderson took a moment to stop by Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night for a performance of “Trippy,” as well as a brief interview.

Christopher Polk/Getty Images

Stepping behind the skins to hold it down, .Paak truly makes it look easy, simultaneously rapping and drumming. For those who lean on backing tracks as a crutch of sorts, allow .Paak to be your guide. After killing the stage, .Paak slid through for a quick chat with Fallon, where be proceeded to drop a few jewels. Clearly basking in his own upward mobility, Anderson opens up about his creatively rewarding, yet occasionally arduous recording sessions with Dr. Dre.

“Both of us are perfectionists so it’s really frustrating sometimes,” says Anderson. When Jimmy asks if they ever butt heads, .Paak gives a firm yes. “His head is bigger than mine too. He’s bigger, so it’s like, alright Dre, sounds good to me! We have the same tastes…I made a lot of music with Dr. Dre, probably two albums worth. It’s music I really feel like getting out. Oxnard is a beautiful place I got a lot of grit, I was doing a lot of rapping…I got a lot more soul music to present.”

Offset “Father Of 4” Album: Fans React To Migos Rapper’s Solo Debut

 Christopher Polk/Getty Images

So far, so good for Offset’s new album.

Last night, we got to experience the first truly competitive release night on the 2019 calendar. Gunna and Lil Pump released their newest projects and Offsetcame through with his official solo debut. The Migos star had been teasing FatherOf 4 for months, first hinting at a December release in time for his birthday. Unfortunately, his personal life fell apart when Cardi B broke up with him, leading the rapper to push back everything he had planned so that he could repair his relationship. The two are back together now and Offset has officially dropped his solo debut album, Father Of 4.

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

The work begins with an apology from Set to his four children. The rapper reaches deep into his heart to say sorry for not being there all the time for his babies. From his first child, who he had at age 17, to Kulture, Father Of 4 starts off on the right note. It continues on an introspective path before reaching a few low spots, picking back up around “North Star.”

So far, fans have been pleasantly impressed on social media, enjoying the tone of the album upon first listen. Of course, that’s a generalized statement but from what we make of it, this is easily the best-received of the three Migos solo albums. Only time will tell if it holds up in the long run. Check out a few of the top reactions below.

Rihanna Shows Off Her LeBron James Obsession At Lakers Game

 Christian Petersen/Getty Images

Rihanna’s love for LeBron James runs deep.

LeBron James is arguably one of the best basketball players to ever do it and his resume speaks for itself. He is beloved by many and also hated by many. While having haters is never fun, it’s hard to really care when one of your adoring fans is Rihanna herself. Over the years, Rihanna has been caught crushing on LeBron and years later, her love for him is still clear as day. Most recently, Rihanna attended a Los Angeles Lakers game wearing a…you guessed it, a Lebron James jersey. Considering LeBron is in LA now, it was only a matter of time before Rihanna came out and did this.

Perhaps the singer was even a good luck charm for James and the team as they defeated the Houston Rockets by a score of 111-106. LeBron had 29 points and was the leading scorer on the Lakers.

During the game, Riri was actually presented with her own “Badgalriri” jersey with the number one on the back. Now that she has her own custom Lakers swag, maybe we’ll see her lusting after LeBron even more now.

As for the Lakers, well, they are still 2.5 games out of a playoff spot but a win against a playoff team like the Rockets is probably a confidence booster moving forward.

Eminem Re-Releases “The Slim Shady LP” With Bonus Tracks

 Bill Pugliano/Getty Images

Eminem’s notorious major label debut gets a slight birthday update.

Eminem‘s Slim Shady LP has earned a place in the annals of hip-hop history. Bearing the first collaborations between Eminem and Dr. DreThe Slim Shady LP found Em ushering in a shocking new demeanor, honed and finessed since Infinite. A stark departure from the AZ & Nas-inspired backpacker’s poetry, Slim Shady found Em embracing shock value and gallows humor, with the musical brain trust of Dr. Dre and the Bass Brothers quarterbacking his every play. The results speak for themselves. With over eighteen million albums sold, The Slim Shady LP was a critical and commercial hit, doing numbers up-and-coming artists could never fathom.

Frank Micelotta/Getty Images

Today marks the album’s twentieth birthday, and as a result, Em and his team have given the project a slight update. While the idea of bonus tracks may be intriguing to some, Em fans have likely already heard the two big adds – “Get You Mad,” and the Dr. Dre assisted, Wild Wild West themed “Bad Guys Always Die.” The remaining bonus cuts are instrumentals and acapellas, which, while a fun addition, aren’t the game changer some might have hoped for. It might have been nice to see some Slim Shady EP cuts hit streaming, but for now, we shall take what we can get.

Bonus Tracks:

Hazardous Youth (A Cappella Version)
Get You Mad
Greg (A Cappella Version)
Bad Guys Always Die (from Wild Wild West Soundtrack)
Guilty Conscience (Radio Version)

French Montana Hits A Three-Point Shot At Lakers And Rockets Game

 Harry How/Getty Images

French got buckets.

It’s well known at this point that French Montana is a big fan of Los Angeles-based sports teams. He was one of the biggest supporters of the Los Angeles Rams as they went to the Super Bowl this year and he is also a big fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. French was actually at the Lakers game on Thursday night as they defeated the Houston Rockets by a score of 111-106. Lakers star LeBron James had a solid night as he picked up 29 points in the win. Before the game though, French got to shoot a three-point shot during the warm-up. He ended up sinking it all while his song “No Stylist” was playing in the background. Pretty fitting if you ask us.

The rapper got to watch the game alongside some pretty famous company. To his right was Sal from record label XO, while actor Denzel Washington was to his left. When it comes to the Lakers, you never know which famous person you’re going to come across and run into. Even Rihanna was at the game, although she was in a private box, wearing a LeBron jersey.

Considering the Lakers won, we’re sure French had a pretty good time. The three-point shot was just icing on the cake.

2019 BRIT Awards: Drake, Jorja Smith & Ariana Grande Walk Away Big Winners

 Kevork Djansezian/Andrew Benge/Getty Images

Drake levied his Canadian citizenship to snag a 2019 BRIT Award.

Although you would think, an artist representing a Commonwealth nation such as Drake would qualify for just about every BRIT Awards’ category, rules were put in place limiting him to just one – which of course he won in stride, like all the other rigged competitions this side of the Atlantic. That isn’t to say, Drake didn’t earn his BRIT Award this year – quite the contrary. He and Ariana Grande walked away with male and female honors in the lone “Solo International” categories on the menu, while Jay-Z and Beyonce were rewarded for their disguised efforts as “The Carters.”

Here’s the list of nominees, and winners as selected by the BRIT Awards’ committee, save for Sam Fender’s hand-picked selection for 2019’s Critics’ Choice award. Elsewhere on the ledger, Jorja Smith walked away with the Solo Female Artist award, covering the great lengths of the United Kingdom. Oddly enough, it was Pink, herself an American, who stole away with one of three dignitary awards, her for “Outstanding Contributions to Music” – read ’em and weep.

Floyd Mayweather’s Daughter Professes Her Love For NBA YoungBoy

 Erika Goldring/Getty Images

Iyanna Mayweather and NBA YoungBoy look to be official.

NBA YoungBoy is either making a genius move or the stupidest decision of his entire life. The young rapper recently welcomed his fifth child into the world but he has difficulty staying with his partners for a long time. He has been romantically linked to dozens of women over the last year and now, he appears to be dating Iyanna Mayweather. If the name rings a bell, you’re absolutely correct. That is Floyd Mayweather’s daughter.

They’ve been spotted together on a few separate occasions but things appear to have reached a new level because Iyanna updated her Instagram page with a photo of them both, confessing that she loves him. YoungBoy better treat her well because there are a few different outcomes to this situation. If he winds up sticking with her for the long haul, he’s basically guaranteed to be rich for the rest of his life. After all, Floyd’s nickname is “Money.” On the downside, if he messes up with Iyanna, you better believe he’s about to catch some of the hardest punches in the world.

Iyanna posted a shot of the couple on her page, writing, “I love you” with a heart emoji. Their fans have mixed emotions about the whole thing. There are those that are ignoring YoungBoy’s shotty past, believing that they’re a match made in heaven. Others are scared for Iyanna. YoungBoy has been honest about having sexually transmitted diseases in the past and he already has five kids. Do you think they’ll last?

Miley Cyrus Says Her New Music Will Have Hip-Hop Elements

 Emma McIntyre/Getty Images

Get ready for some “hip-hop-leaning records” from Miley.

Miley Cyrus is officially back on the grid after taking a minor hiatus. Before she came back on the scene as a married woman, Miley dropped off a few chart-topping albums such as Bangerz that featured her most talked about (and re-created) song “Wrecking Ball.” The 26-year-old is the latest cover star for Vanity Fair and explained just what her next project will look like, that’s due this summer.”There’s psychedelic elements, there’s pop elements, there’s more hip-hop-leaning records,” she told the publication. “You know, in the same way I like to kind of just be genderless, I like feeling genre-less,” adding how it will be “kind of a mosaic of all the things that I’ve been before.”

Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images

Miley has previously been called out for cultural appropriation, especially on her 2013 tape, Bangerz.

“I think we’re so influenced by the people that we’re around,” she explained on the topic of that specific album.

“And my community when I was working on BangerzFuture actually wrote on ‘Love Money Party.’ Those are the people in my life that I was really around and in the studio with. Future is fucking amazing and has a lot of wisdom, too. Just listening to him and Mike Will, who was going to call his first record Made It from the Basement—the way they grew up was obviously so different from the way I grew up.”

Quavo Teases “Black-ish” Guest-Starring Role

 Christopher Polk/Getty Images

This is yet another television role for the rapper.

Migos rapper Quavo is coming back to the small screen. In 2016, Quavo showed off his chops in his acting debut on FX’s Atlanta and just last year he guest-starred on Star. Continuing on in his acting career, the rapper teased that he may have a new upcoming role on the award-winning sitcom comedy, Black-ish.For those of you who aren’t up on the Black-ish game, the show follows a suburban black family as they hilariously navigate being the only people of color in their social spheres. The show has covered controversial topics such as police brutality, the inclusion of Black History Month, the violent institution of slavery, and interracial relationships.

Quavo shared a photo of himself on the Black-ish set with the caption “B L A C K • I S H Coming Soon!!,” but fans will have to wait a little while longer if they want to get more details than that. There have been plenty of rappers who have turned into successful actors including 50 CentIce Cube, Ice-T, Queen Latifah, Bow WowAndre 3000, Will Smith, Mos Def, Tupac, and more. Do you think Quavo is on his way to an illustrious acting career?

The Game Wows A$AP Rocky & A$AP Ferg With “Born To Rap”

 Leon Bennett/Getty Images

The Game’s “Born To Rap” recording session continues to bring out the heavy-hitters.

The Game is never one to let a minor controversy derail his course. Mere weeks after putting Kim KardashianKanye WestJoe Budden, and Cyn Santana on edge with a sexually-charged diary entry of a song, The Game has once again come through with a Born To Rap update. We’ve already seen him enlisting Meek MillDr. Dre, Just Blaze, and Swizz Beatz for the project. Now, it appears Game has reached out to some of his New York associates, sharing a picture of himself, A$AP Rocky, and A$AP Ferg in the studio.

“My A$AP n***as slid thru last night & I pressed play,” writes Game. “By the look on Ferg face, we got another CLASSIC.” While it’s not entirely clear whether Game put down vocals with the A$AP rappers or merely chopped it up, the caption seems to suggest a listening session of sorts. It’s easy to infer that Rocky and Ferg were mere spectators in this scenario, taking in Game’s project as fans first.

Yet the optimists among us can hold out hope for additional vocals, even if they come in a limited capacity. In any case, Game’s Born To Rap sessions continue to act as a gathering place for dope emcees and producers. Hopefully the rapper will yield more concrete information about the album in the days to come.

Kanye West Dyes His Hair Every Single Color Of The Rainbow

 Jenny Anderson/Getty Images

Kanye West tries out a new look.

It feels like every week, we can expect Kanye West to change something about his appearance. Usually, you can bank on him trying out an obscure hair color or chopping off his locks altogether. Throughout his career, Kanye has sported a clean buzzcut but recently, he grew out his hair a touch and has experimented with different looks. His latest decision may have been styled after googling a few images of snowcones because the top of Ye’s dome is a rainbow dream.

Dominik Bindl/Getty Images

On his way to the Yeezy office, paparazzi photographers managed to snap a few photos of the multi-platinum recording artist with a new hairstyle. This time, he transitioned to a full-on rainbow look, dyeing his locks in a variety of colors. It likely took a while to pull this off given how many tones are present. The back of his head starts with purple before gradually turning green, yellow, blue and more. If you look at him from the front, pink is the predominant shade on his head.

Fans have already started to joke about the new look with one Instagram commenter kidding that it was styled by Stevie Wonder. Personally, I find it cool that Kanye continues to find new ways to express himself. He’s turned his hair into sort of a painting over the last few months, using the canvas to try out a few different colors to match his mood.

Kendrick Lamar & SZA Refuse To Perform “All The Stars” At Oscars

 Kevin Winter/Getty Images

The “Best Original Song” nominees don’t want any part of the Academy’s shenanigans.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA are holding firm in their refusal to perform at the Oscars, despite the Academy’s most enticing efforts. The Academy wants the TDE artists to perform their Oscar-nominated song “All The Stars” from the Kendrick-curated Black Panther soundtrack. And short of creating a minor snafu out of resentment, the committee will not seek a replacement Kendrick or SZA to follow through with the booking as scheduled. As is generally the custom, the other nominated artists have consented to perform their songs on live television. They include Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, Jennifer Hudson for “I’ll Fight” fromRBG, Bette Midler and Marc Shaiman for “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns, and lastly, Gillian Welch and David Rowlings for “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. In addition to the participation of all consenting “Best Original Song” nominees, a song and dance attributed to Queen and the “Freddy Mercury” biopic was also commissioned for the live broadcast. As Variety reported late last month, the Oscar committee was forced to be more inclusive with the performing acts on the live telecast, after a host of big names voiced their displeasure with the existing “process,” which is indubitably a big part of the reason SZA and Kendrick Lamar pulled out, even though “All Stars” was part of the original mock-up.

Michael Jackson’s Estate Sues HBO For Upwards Of $100 Million

 Phil Walter/Getty Images

Michael Jackson’s estate claims the cable network is defying an NDA they signed in 1992.

It’s no secret Michael Jackson’s estate has been up in arms ever since the Leaving Neverland hype starting picking up. After all, HBO has a longstanding relationship with Michael Jackson dating back to the airing of Michael Jackson Live in Concert in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour in 1992. Jackson’s estate claims a non-disclosure agreement when the King of Pop signed off on the concert footage.According to the deposition, the NDA called for HBO to withhold from any “foul talk” against Michael Jackson for an indiscriminate amount of time. “HBO shall not make any disparaging remarks concerning Performer or any of his representatives, agents, or business practices or do any act that may harm or disparage or cause to lower in esteem the reputation or public image of..” reads the disclaimer which surfaced in court this afternoon. The lawsuit could see HBO lose up to $100 million in damages if proven liable on all counts. As you likely already know, Leaving Neverland is centered on the allegations of two of MJ’s known accusers: James Safechuck and Wade Robson, who are now claiming that Jackson molested them when they were children. The lawsuit also claims that Safechuck and Robson hold absolutely no credibility given the fact they both took an oath absolving the King of Pop of any molestation.

Allred moderated a linear discussion where the alleged victims recounted their participation in an after party put on the disgraced singer. As the story goes, both women were invited to the said party after Kelly spotted them in the crowd at one of his infamous “front row” concerts. In other R. Kelly-related news, a grand jury has been assembled to investigate a sex tape which allegedly shows the singer engaging in sexual acts with what is believed to be a 14-year-old girl. The damning evidence was presented to Cook County’s State Attorney’s Office by attorney Michael Avenatti. It’s still unclear whether the new accusers are in any way involved with Avenatti’s prosecution efforts in Chicago.

Baby Kulture is laced up with bling and isn’t even a year old yet.

Some say, “If you got it, flaunt it,” and Cardi B is doing just that for her baby. The 26-year-old, Grammy award-winning mom celebrated the birth of her daughter Kulture in the summer of 2018, and since then Cardi hasn’t stopped lavishing her seven-month-old with love, affection, and bling. In a recent Instagram post, the “Money” rapper once again hid her baby girl’s face from adoring fans, but she did show off a diamond-studded bracelet that spelled out “Kulture” with a little heart within the “K.”Shyne Jewelers, the creator of the iced out baby bracelet, posted a video clip of Kulture’s piece with the caption, “Thank you @iamcardib for letting us make Kulture this masterpiece!” David Goldstein of Goldstein Diamonds told that the bracelet is approximately worth $5,900 and looks to be about 2-carats in total weight.

Last week Cardi shared a video of her husband Offset and Kulture, teasing that now their little one is now saying both “mama” and “papa.” No other way to celebrate these hip hop family milestones than with the drip.

R. Kelly’s Lawyer Compares Him To Beethoven & John Lennon

 Donna Ward/Getty Images

R. Kelly’s attorney is unhappy that the singer has to move out of his studio.

Who else is surprised that Chicago Police arrested Jussie Smollett for orchestrating his own attack before R. Kelly got sent to jail. Yesterday, it was reported that R. Kelly will be moving out of his Chicago music studio, which he previously used to craft a good number of his hit records. He is leaving on his own will after a curfew was imposed by the judge, not allowing Kelly to be in the building after 9:00 PM. He had previously violated building restrictions that clearly state that the space is not to be used as a residential building. In a statement made yesterday, the singer’s attorney announced that his client would be moving out, comparing him to some of the most famous inventors and artists along the way.

One thing that’s missing from his remarks: those people have not been accused of sexually assaulting countless minors.

The message is closed with a note that R. Kelly will continue to work on his upcoming album elsewhere. What do you think of his statement?
