Quotable Lyrics:

Penthouse feel like heaven when I wake from a ménage
I got every kinda color car in my garage
Intercontinental with my bitch and a massage
Buy a lot of diamonds, I flash my money, I like to floss, yeah
My little shooters stay on point, all I do is throw assists
We locked in together forever, that’s if I’m poor or rich
Make ’em call me Papa Bear, the way I get that porridge
Walk inside the club and it start stormin’

– Lil Baby

Rick Ross Shows Zero Remorse On Smif-N-Wessun’s “Let Me Tell Ya”

Cover

Smif-N-Wessun incorporate “Ross Fit” into their regimen.

Smif-N-Wessun are just about ready to unveil their first full-length project since 2011, all in the spirit of new beginnings. If you’re are an ardent follower of the New York rap scene, you might recall hearing about the legal stipulation that led to them changing their name to the Cocoa Brovaz, albeit momentarily. The group released one album under the legal pseudonym before relapsing back into position.Smiff-N-Wessun owes it to their unending stream of fans to recreate the magic they displayed as pioneers of an epoch in which elements of Boom Bap and Dancehall/Reggae became suffused into one. But to their credit,  Tek and Steele have been able to muster the energy they had in 1995, even as the Patois signifier loses its shock appeal to the senses. On “Let Me Tell Ya,” the Duck Down veteran are met with an equally yearnful Rick Ross, himself a victim of circumstances (health) which have in turn derailed his career. Smif-N-Wessun are just about ready to drop, but not before signaling their intent with an ever-so-hungry Rick Ross, one day before The All is set to debut. Hit us with your thoughts.

Quotable Lyrics:

I miss the old Kanye, can’t f*ck with new lanes
Throwback sneakers and my new chains
Suicidal if my contract was like Lil Wayne‘s.

Eminem & Redman’s First Collaboration Was “Off The Wall”

Cover

Despite only having rapped together once, Eminem and Redman’s chemistry was exceptional.

It’s no secret that Eminem and Redman are one of hip-hop’s most respected friendships, consistently singing each other’s respective praises. Yet sadly, the pair only linked up on record once; technically twice, if you count Eminem’s production on Red’s “I See Dead People.” When they did link up back in 2000, it was on the unlikeliest of places – The Nutty Professor II soundtrack. Perhaps a worthy home for a song like “Off The Wall,” as zany, twisted, and maniacal as Eddie Murphy in a fatsuit.”Probably got a fanatic waiting upstairs in the attic, with an automatic calling me up there,” spits Em, at the arguable height of his lyrical dexterity.  “My man, Stan, with a gat in his hand, staking my house out in a tan, tinted sedan.” Never one to be outmatched, Redman matches Em’s pace and then some, going back and forth with his own imaginative bars. “Flash the gat, your town, bogarting, your wallet, your chain the main target,” he menaces. “Beef is like cold engine – don’t start it, bust in the air and hit an airplane pilot.”Respect to Doc and Slim, and let us hope that they once again find their paths crossing on wax. Do you remember this one?

Quotable Lyrics

Popped the trunk and pulled out the shotgun pump
Knock wood, it’s all good; thank God for vodka
Cause wit my luck, I’ll probably get shot by a stalker
Probably got a fanatic waiting upstairs in the attic
With an automatic calling me up there
My man, Stan, with a gat in his hand
Staking my house out in a tan, tinted sedan
Pull your mouth out till you can’t finish a damn
Ham sandwich, or your can spinach and Spam

– Slim
