J.I.D gets his rightful recognition.

There have been several dope artists who had major breakouts this year. While J.I.D’s had a major buzz among the hip-hop heads for a a few years, the rapper became the most promising young lyricists in the rap game this year. Today, BET recognizes J.I.D’s work throughout the year and crowned him the 2018 Rookie Of The Year.

J. Cole‘s been building the foundation for his Dreamville artists to flourish on. This year, J.I.D saw the most amount of recognition in comparison to the rest of the roster (aside from Cole, obviously). He landed on the XXL’s 2018 Freshman Year List alongside Lil PumpSki Mask The Slump God, Trippie Redd, BlocBoy JB and more. Among the other rappers who made the cover, J.I.D was undoubtedly the most promising.

Throughout the year, J.I.D didn’t release a ton of music, but he did keep fans anticipating the arrival of DiCaprio 2. The rapper blessed us with the project towards the end of the year which lived up the standards fans had for him. Ultimately, everything that J.I.D has done this year has further secured him as one of the leading rappers in the new generation of hip-hop.

Yesterday, BET revealed that they chose Meek Mill as the 2018 Man Of The Year due to his major comeback within the past year. Congrats to both J.I.D and Meek on the accolade.
