Jamie Foxx Explains How He Taught Diddy To Party With $400 & How He Met Kanye
Jamie Foxx has the best stories.
While sitting down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Foxx told a long story that has several twists and turns. The journey begins when Foxx attended a party thrown by P. Diddy. “I would hang out and watch him throw parties,” Foxx admits. “He threw a party and said ‘Yo playboy, this party costs a million and a half dollars.’ I’m like, ‘you are out of your mind.'” Jamie then went on to show the Bad Boy creator how to party on a budget. “I said ‘Puff, I will throw you a party for 400 bucks that will rival this party,'” bragged Foxx.
Diddy took him up on his offer, and Foxx invited “200 of the coolest people” he knew at the time. “I said ‘Puff, look over there on the dinner table, I got Kentucky Fried Chicken. I put it in a nice plate. I got Coca-Cola, I put it in a pitcher. We are at 208 bucks and we are killin’ it right now,'” Foxx joked. The comedian/actor/musician went on to state that Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and The Neptunes ended up joining the party. West, who was unknown at the time, ended up convincing Foxx to record “Slow Jamz” during the party, and the rest is history. Check out the entire hilarious anecdote, featuring Foxx impersonating his party guests, below.

Ciara Talks Marrying Russell Wilson After Split With Future: “It Was God’s Timing”
Ciara did her necessary steps to be in a healthy marriage with Russell Wilson.
“I took a moment to pause and to really reflect on the journey and where I was at that moment of even looking at love again,” she tells the publication. “I think that it’s really important for [women] to know exactly what we want and be clear about it and also be patient.”
She explains how she would write down what she wanted, so her vision would be more real. “I’m a believer in seeing it, speaking it, and writing it down,” she explains.
“I didn’t know I was going to meet my husband when I did, and that was really a blessing and I believe it was God’s timing. But I was patient and was willing to be still for as long as I needed to have the best partner I could have in my life.”
Kevin Gates Teases New Music On Instagram
The Bread Winners’ Association rapper didn’t share any track titles or release dates, but dropped some fresh bars across the posts, “I done changed lanes/ I ain’t miss a beat/ Praise to Allah/ Made it out the clink,“ he raps in the first clip. Then, “So focused I ain’t checkin’ the comments/ Want smoke? Go relocate your momma/ Been broke, had to come up from grindin/ Sold soap, had to come up no options,” he raps over a Yung Lan-produced beat.
The Louisiana native was released from prison in January, and had been relatively quiet since. After months of Instagram silence, he made his comeback last Monday (May 7), with some videos flexing his jewelry and showing a family meal.
His wife, Dreka Gates, posted a video to Kevin’s Instagram apologizing to fans on May 4, revealing that the Illinois Department Of Corrections has prevented her busband from leaving the state, saying he isn’t even allowed to come home to California where the two share a home. “We’re doing everything in our power to work this out,” Dreka said.
Gates has missed several concerts as a result of his travel limitations, including a set at this past weekend’s Rolling Loud in Miami.

Jim Jones’ Security Team Involved In Brawl Outside Massachusetts Club
SPRINGFIELD, MA – Video has surfaced of a recent brawl involving Jim Jones. The Dipset member was outside of a club in Springfield, Massachusetts when an altercation occurred between his security team and some unknown men on Sunday morning (May 13).
According to TMZ, Jones was leaving Club Zone after hosting an event at the venue. In the video, he can be seen taking pictures with some fans while a loud argument is taking place. Seconds later, a punch is thrown and a fight breaks out in the street. Someone can be heard telling Jones not to get into the fray and one member of his team is seen holding him back.
TMZ reports that police eventually arrived at the scene but no arrests were made. Jones has told HipHopDX that he wasn’t involved in the fight.
50 Cent, who has been taunting Jones in recent weeks, tweeted out footage of the brawl on Monday (May 14).
“Damn Boy they popped on Jimmy, get the strap,” he wrote.
Jones is currently on tour promoting his new album Wasted Talent, which dropped in April.
Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” Debuts At #1 On Billboard Hot 100
Over the last nine days, the visual is sitting at 112 million YouTube views, while the song itself has been streamed over 160 million times across various platforms. Subsequently, the track has made its Billboard Hot 100 debut at #1.
Directed by Hiro Murai, who frequently works with Glover on his hit FX show Atlanta, the video earned 85.3 million views in its first week on YouTube. According to a press release, that marks the biggest first week debut of any video this year, which helped land the song at #1 on the YouTube Songs chart in 11 countries, including the U.S., U.K. and Australia.
It’s also tied for the fifth fastest music video to reach 100 million views in YouTube history.

Hip Hop Week In Review: Childish Gambino, Spotify’s “Hateful Conduct” Policy & Big T’s Death
HIPHOPDX – This week in Hip Hop, Childish Gambino released a music video for “This Is America,” creatively encapsulating what living in America is like in 2018. Spotify also launched a “hateful conduct” policy and had R.Kelly and XXXTENTACION’s music removed from their playlists. Lastly, Houston lost “Million Dollar Hook Man” Big T, known for his contributions on Lil Troy’s 1999 hit “Wanna Be A Baller,” after he suffered a heart attack.
Childish Gambino Delivers Compelling “This Is America” Music Video
Childish Gambino upped the ante with his artistry with the release of his politically charged music video for “This Is America.” The visual creatively depicts what life is like in America 2018: accessible technology coupled with the instantaneous satisfaction from social media likes to distract from social issues such as racism and gun violence.
“This Is America” makes use of common ad-libs from today’s most popular rap stars such as Young Thug, 21 Savage, Slim Jxmmi, BlocBoy JB and Quavo. It also features TDE princess SZA in the video. Since its release, the video has accumulated over 100 million YouTube views.
The video has obvious symbolism throughout and addresses the state of the United States politically and socially.

Spotify Removes R. Kelly & XXXTENTACION From Its Playlists
The Time’s Up movement employed a #MuteRKelly campaign and called on every large corporation associated with him to stop doing business with him, and it appears Spotify has stepped up to the plate by removing his music from their curated playlists under their new “hateful conduct” policy.
“We are removing R. Kelly’s music from all Spotify owned and operated playlists and algorithmic recommendations such as Discover Weekly,” Spotify said in a statement. “His music will still be available on the service, but Spotify will not actively promote it.”
They also removed XXXTENTACTION’s music as well. Both artists have been accused of assaulting women either physically or sexually, but neither have been convicted.
R.I.P. Houston Rapper Big T

The man behind the infectious choruses of so many popular Houston songs, more notably Lil Troy’s 1999 hit “Wanna Be A Baller,” passed away after suffering a heart attack.
Many publications mistakenly used photos of Chicago battle rapper Big T in their obituaries, causing confusion.
T’s funeral was held Saturday (May 12) afternoon and attended by close friends and family.

George Clinton Is Retiring From Touring Because He “Funked Too Hard”
HipHopDX’s Kyle Eustice spoke with George Clinton recently and the 77-year-old funkmaster revealed he’s done with touring. However, he’ll still remain at the board producing records.
“I’m going to miss just [touring],” Clinton tells HipHopDX. “I’ve been practicing letting the band do it though and directing but I’m going to have fun still producing the albums and keeping the concepts going. They got the new fresh energy and they’ve been killing it for the last two years. I feel good, I feel safe. I have to do it. I got the pacemaker put in, so I have to pace myself anyway [laughs].”

What We Know So Far About Ice Cube’s “Last Friday”
It’s been 16 years since we watched Craig (Ice Cube) and Day-Day (Mike Epps) attempt to recoup their stolen rent money on Christmas Eve. Now, after many years of speculation, it appears the fourth and final installment of the popular Friday franchise — titled Last Friday — is becoming a reality.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BiTQXPih2w3/embed/captioned/?cr=1&v=8&wp=500&rd=hiphopdx.com#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A2481.100000004517%7DThough there have been many “confirmations” in recent years, Epps made it official by posting an image of himself, Cube and comedian John Witherspoon on set.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BiSV6WnhBHb/embed/captioned/?cr=1&v=8&wp=500&rd=hiphopdx.com#%7B%22ci%22%3A1%2C%22os%22%3A2485.899999999674%7DIt will be a reunion — to some extent. On a 2017 episode of The Wendy Williams Show, Cube discussed the film’s delay, citing issues in getting the higher-ups to cut the check for the film. “It’s a big check,” he said, specifically stating that classic franchise mainstays like Epps, Witherspoon, Chris Tucker and Tiny Lister “want a bigger check.”
“They were all unknowns at the time,” Cube said. “Now, they’re household names.”
In a recent interview with DJ Vlad, Witherspoon discussed the original Friday — noting he and the other cast members were only paid $5,000 each for their roles — and spoke about how the budget for a new one would be astronomical in comparison to the original, which cost just $2 million and took only 20 days to film.
Sadly, it appears that one of the franchises most memorable characters, Chris Tucker’s Smokey, will likely not appear in the film. It’s widely known that money was the primary factor as to why he walked away from the franchise, eventually landing multi-million dollar paydays for his blockbuster Rush Hour trilogy.
“If I could’ve gotten a three-picture deal for $20 million each, I would’ve been right there with him,” Witherspoon told DJ Vlad.
It was recently announced that a fourth Rush Hour is in the works, which could conflict with filming Last Friday. But never say never.
“I’m definitely gonna look at it and see if it works, ‘Cause I never say never,” Tucker said of his return on ESPN’s The Plug Podcast earlier this year. “I definitely want to check it out. If it works, it’s a possibility.”
If the IMDB entry is to be believed, the film will finally come to fruition next year.

Queen, the long-awaited follow-up to Nicki’s 2014 studio album The Pinkprint, is due out June 15th, as she announced on the Met Gala red carpet earlier this week. It is preceded by the singles “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz.” “Chun-Li” is currently at No. 50 on the Hot 100.
Nicki also revealed on the Met Gala red carpet that she and Madonna have a “secret coming soon.” However, she did not expand on what to expect from the two artists who previously worked together on “Bitch I’m Madonna” and “Give Me All Your Luvin’.”
Wiz Khalifa Does Not Want To Hear Drake’s “Nice For What”
Wiz Khalifa isn’t rocking with Drake’s latest single.
While it’s likely a joke, it’s clear that he wasn’t down to listen to the song. I mean, there’s a good chance that he finds it overplayed and probably heard it one too many times.
Hopefully, we’ll be hearing new music from Wiz Khalifa on the radio soon. He recently revealed the release date for his project is July 13th. We might be a little over 2 months away but it’s a good time for him to share some singles for us to ride to.

#DXHitList: Cuban Doll, Shoreline Mafia & Rae Sremmurd Top This Week’s Spotify Playlist
SPOTIFY – Cuban Doll revisited “Bankrupt” off her Aaliyah Keef mixtape and recruited Lil Yachty and Lil Baby for a dope remix, topping this week’s #DXHitList on Spotify. “Bankrupt” is an aggressive single produced by League of Starz and the features from Yachty and Lil Baby reinvigorate the previously released cut.
Shoreline Mafia’s “Musty,” an added song from the Los Angeles rap group’s ShorelineDoThatShit EP also hits the playlist this week. The newly signed Atlantic Records rapping quartet is slated to hit the road for their “Still OTX Tour” kicking off in Brooklyn on May 10. Definitely a group to keep your ears out for in 2018.
Rae Sremmurd dropped their ambitious triple-disc album SR3MM last week and among the songs placed on Swae Lee’s side of the album, Swaecation, is the intoxicating “Offshore” featuring Young Thug. It’s a calm collaboration between the two artists who have made use of their vocals to put forth a melodic track produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and Mars of 1500 or Nothin’. “Offshore” also happens to feature a smooth sample of Ye Ali’s “Oceans” off his 2016 album TrapHouseJodeci produced by Bizness Boi.
New tracks from City Girls, Ski Mask The Slump God and Dice Soho featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Desiigner top the #DXHitList as well as $ha Hef’s “Money Obsession” and Playboi Carti‘s new song with Nicki Minaj titled “Poke It Out.”

LOS ANGELES, CA – A man who broke into Rihanna’s Los Angeles home on Wednesday (May 9) was reportedly tased and arrested on Thursday (May 10).
According to TMZ, 26-year-old Eduardo Leon told police he was there to have sex with the Barbadian superstar but didn’t plan to use force to get his way.

Leon was taken into custody on charges of stalking, trespassing and residential burglary. He also broke into another residence on May 4 thinking it belonged to Rihanna, which is why police decided to add stalking to the charges.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department website, Leon has multiple arrests.
He’s currently being held on $150,000 bail.

Teairra Mari Allegedly Smashes Up Boyfriend’s Car After Sex Video Leak
Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star Teairra Mari reportedly took revenge into her own hands when she allegedly smashed the windows of boyfriend Akbar Abdul-Ahad’s car on Thursday (May 10).
TMZ reports that Mari’s vehicular vendetta comes after the singer accused her boyfriend of posting revenge porn to her Instagram account.
Abdul-Ahad says he caught Mari in the act of smashing his windshield shortly after security at his North Hollywood apartment complex informed him of the act.
Mari allegedly used a metal rod from a bar stool to inflict the damage. She was said to be joined by Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood castmate Milan Christopher during the attack.
The attack on Abdul-Ahad’s vehicle comes the same week that a photo and video of Mari engaging in a sex act leaked online. Abdul-Ahad has denied responsibility for the leak.
In video uploaded to social media after the leak, Abdul-Ahad stated he believes it’s Mari’s ex who is responsible.
“You got everybody thinking it’s me. Tell the truth,” Abdul-Ahad said in video he recorded with Mari.

Rapper Young Lo Denies Rape Involvement At Alleged Chris Brown Sex Party
Rapper Young Lo — real name Lowell Grissom — reportedly had a few choice words for Gloria Allred. The high profile attorney is currently representing a woman claiming Grissom raped her multiple times during an alleged drug-fueled sex party at Chris Brown’s house.
Grissom was at Brown’s home at the time of the alleged incident but according to TMZ, Grissom says he had nothing to do with any alleged crime.
Grisssom’s attorney Anthony Willoughby reportedly said, “Lowell vehemently denies these false and defaming accusations originated last year, ending with no arrests, no proof, an inconclusive rape kit and after a police investigation — no charges filed.”
“This civil lawsuit is a blatant attempt at a money grab and to harm the reputation of my client while encouraging PR noise for Gloria Allred while she exploits this young woman for her own financial gains and public persona.”
In Allred’s recent press conference, she called the sexual assault case “one of the most horrific” she’d ever seen.
Brown has yet to address the situation publicly.
(The original version of this article was published on May 9, 2018 and can be found below.)
A woman who was allegedly raped at Chris Brown’s home in February 2017 is reportedly taking legal action against the R&B star.
According to TMZ, Brown is being sued by a woman going by Jane Doe who says not only was she raped by one of Brown’s friends but also forced to perform oral sex on a menstruating woman.
The legal docs claim Brown supplied cocaine, ecstasy and weed, and that the woman’s phone was confiscated upon arrival at his recording studio. She alleges Brown’s friend forced women to have sexual contact with Brown and Lowell Grissom (also known as rapper Young Lo).
The unidentified woman hired hotshot attorney Gloria Allred to handle the case.
During a recent press conference, Allred explained, “When she arrived at the studio, her phone was taken away from her. She was told that Brown did not want anyone to have their phones in the studio. Our client alleges in the lawsuit that she was forced to go to Brown’s home because she perceived that she would only be able to retrieve her phone there.
“Brown handed each female guest, including our Plaintiff, a clear pill filled with white powder and instructed them to take it to have a ‘good time.’” But the woman says she declined.
Allred went on to explain her client felt “intimidated” by the multiple guns in the house, aggressive behavior by some of Brown’s guests and the general atmosphere in Brown’s home.
“While she was at Brown’s house, she was the victim of horrific sexual assault,” Allred continued. “It’s one of the most horrific sexual assault cases that I have ever seen and our client Jane Doe has been severely traumatized.”
The legal docs also state Grissom held the woman against a washing machine and raped her for a second time. Once she was able to leave the home, she says she went to a rape treatment center and reported it to the authorities.
Neither Brown or Grissom have addressed the allegations publicly.

Young Thug Confirms Next Childish Gambino Album Is The Last
Young Thug recently sat down with Spotify for their “Scrolling In The Deep” segment and confirmed two very important things: yes, that is him on Childish Gambino’s “This Is America”and Childish Gambino’s next album will be his last.
“[Childish Gambino] got in touch with Reese LaFlare. I think they cool, friends or whatever. He told him to come to the [studio]. He said he has a song for me for his last album.” Thug said. “I tweeted one time, I was like, ‘I bet I be on Gambino’s last album.’ I’m on his last album, it’s crazy. He’s really not making music after this.”
Though many rappers have returned after announcing their retirements — including one who switched up in a matter of hours — if Gambino sticks to his promise, he’ll be bowing out at the height of his success. His new “This Is America” video is getting attention from all corners of the mainstream media and has generated almost 50 million YouTube views since its release on May 5. Meanwhile, his FX show Atlanta has been generating rave reviews.
Oh, and Young Thug also mentioned in the clip that he and Future have each other’s names tattooed on them.

TIDAL Denies Creating Fake Streams For Beyoncé & Kanye West
In a statement provided to HipHopDX, TIDAL has denied allegations in a new report by Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv, which claims the streaming service manipulated user data to create millions of fake streams for Beyoncé and Kanye West.
“This is a smear campaign from a publication that once referred to our employee as an ‘Israeli Intelligence officer’ and our owner as a ‘crack dealer,’” a TIDAL spokesperson told DX. “We expect nothing less from them than this ridiculous story, lies and falsehoods. The information was stolen and manipulated and we will fight these claims vigorously.”
Music Business Worldwide has translated much of Dagens Næringsliv’ latest article into English, summing up its main accusation: “Beyoncé’s and Kanye West’s listener numbers on TIDAL have been manipulated to the tune of several hundred million false plays … which has generated massive royalty payouts at the expense of other artists.”
The report claims to have discovered an illicit hard drive containing “billions of rows of [internal TIDAL data]: times and song titles, user IDs and country codes.” Although TIDAL has denied the legitimacy of the data, the newspaper says it matches the information received by record labels on all the dates in question. The outlet reached out to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, who conducted its own investigation of data and determined a gaming of the system occurred. “We have through advanced statistical analysis determined that there has in fact been a manipulation of the [TIDAL] data at particular times,” NTNU’s Center for Cyber and Information Security said. “The manipulation appears targeted towards a very specific set of track IDs, related to two distinct albums.” The albums in question are Kanye West’s The Life Of Pablo and Beyoncé’s Lemonade. More than 150 million duplicates of tracks from West’s album were allegedly played at the same time using real users’ accounts. Dagens Næringsliv says more than 1.3 million subscribers were manipulated.
The newspaper claims the faking of streams for Beyoncé’s LP was more elaborate. “The duplicates are logged at different times, differ from one user to the next, which makes them more difficult to detect.”
Despite this change, a repetitive pattern was still discovered by NTNU’s Center for Cyber and Information Security, which found tracks being restarted at the same second and millisecond. CCIS uncovered 170 plays of Lemonade and its accompanying video album following this specific repetition.
NTNU’s Professor Katrin Franke said it’s “highly likely” the streaming manipulation was done by TIDAL as opposed to an outside force hacking the system.
Cardi B Feigns Blindness Over Post-Met Gala Beatdown
Though everyone saw the up-close-and-personal footage of the beatdown of an autograph seeker outside a post-Met Gala 2018 party earlier this week, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is claiming ignorance — and feigning blindness.
“I’m legally bliiiiiind,” she sings for the TMZ camera. “I’m legally blind, sir.”
A member of her entourage can then be seen shooing the cameraman away, asking him to “leave her alone” because she’s a “pregnant lady” who worked “really hard” today.
The initial reports about Giovanni Arnold, a professional autograph seeker, suggested that Cardi B’s security gave him an unprovoked beatdown after he requested a signature from the Bronx native.
Later, however, the reality seemed to be very different: a longer video shows Arnold heckling Offset after being refused autographs and begging him to “beat him up” — an offer some apparent Migos affiliates eventually obliged.
The New York Daily News also reports Arnold will likely file a lawsuit.
“Our client was beaten to a pulp for requesting an autograph,” said attorney Daniel Szalkiewicz. “Our client was held in the hospital overnight for observation. The videos clearly show this was not an act of self-defense. The assailants fled the scene to avoid being arrested for their savage attack. “No fan should ever be treated in this manner, and words never justify violence.”
KRS-One, Ice-T, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon To Headline 2018 Art Of Rap Festival
Following the 2012 release of the Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap documentary, co-director Ice-T and Mick Bentson decided to take the concept on the road and turn The Art Of Rap into a full-fledged tour. Now, the classic Hip Hop-flavored concert/festival is expanding with what’s promised to be the biggest lineup yet.
With over a dozen acts already booked — including Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, KRS-One and EPMD — the fourth annual event will continue to celebrate Hip Hop culture with all the elements represented.
In addition to the headlining acts, b-boying, graffiti expos and DJing will be on display throughout the festival grounds.
“The Art Of Rap cares about break dancers, graffiti artists, MCs and DJs,” co-founder Mick Bentson tells HipHopDX. “So while people are alive, The Art Of Rap will have you on the show. It’s not just for the classic artists. It’s for the art of rap — from beginning to today.
“The Art Of Rap is for the culture of Hip Hop. For those who really want to relive the times they remember this music and bring those who don’t understand this music, The Art Of Rap is the place to go.”

Prodigy performed his last Mobb Deep show during The Art Of Rap Las Vegas tour stop before unexpectedly passing away last June and Bentson is just glad they had that opportunity.
“The Art of Rap works with artist while they are still living,” he says. “We do not wait until an artist passes way so we can talk about how great they were. We worked with Mobb Deep for three years. We loved the group before they had the turmoil in their family.
“BET waited until Prodigy passed away to do a tribute and they had never even invited them to a show or invited them to sit in the audience. Same with Craig Mack and Luvbug Starski who was one of the first people who said ‘Hip Hop’ before there was Hip Hop. We want to work with artists while they’re still here.”
SNL Writers Break Down Donald Glover’s “A Kanye Place” Skit
NEW YORK, NY – Saturday Night Live writers Sudi Green and Fran Gillespie spoke in a behind-the-scenes video, released on the SNL Youtube channel, about writing and producing the “A Kanye Place” sketch.
The acclaimed skit was part of last week’s internet-breaking episode hosted by Donald Glover.
Green and Gillespie originally wrote the skit as a live sketch, but realized during the Wednesday table reading there were too many moving parts. Given that it was a parody of Paramount’s recent horror film, A Quiet Place, they decided the best course of action would be to film it. The cornfield set was built indoors, on a soundstage, in under 24 hours and the sketch was shot on Friday afternoon. “The moment you walk onto set, that’s like my favorite thing,” shared Green, “because you wrote this thing, and it’s all very abstract, and then hours later you walk onto set, and it’s like ‘oh my God!’.”
Although it was a parody sketch, the writers and directors were dedicated authentically matching the various Kanye-related fiascos to the beats and atmosphere of the film. American Sign Language (ASL) translators were brought in during production to ensure that the actors were signing correctly during a portion where they communicated non-verbally.
The “Creating Saturday Live” interview for “A Kanye Place” can be found below while the original sketch is up above.
Teairra Mari Addresses Revenge Porn Hack On Instagram
LOS ANGELES, CA – Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star and R&B singer Teairra Marí is stepping out in front of an ongoing social media scandal that depicts the 30-year-old in a sexual act.
“Recently my social media was compromised by someone who I felt was deserving of my love and trust. That person proved to be untrustworthy and posted footage of what in the moment was private and sacred.
“Moving forward, I recognize the need to be more cautious and discerning. My hope is for women to remain strong and dignified when they find themselves having to address hateful and juvenile acts by former lovers who find it difficult to act in an adult manner.”
She concluded, “Revenge Porn is a crime in California and I will be in pursuit of justice.” Mari went on to thank her former LHHH co-star, Milan Christopher for having her back during her moment of trouble.

Sadly, Marí isn’t the only LHHH star whose had to deal with this particular issue this year. Nicki Minajs ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels had his private business leaked all across social media back in February.

JAY-Z Delays SEC Case With No-Show In Court
U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe isn’t happy with JAY-Z. Hov was scheduled to appear in federal court on Tuesday (May 8) to testify about the Iconix Brand Group but didn’t show up.
“This testimony has been delayed for five months and I do not intend to tolerate any more delays,” Gardephe said, according to CNBC.
JAY was issued a subpoena in November 2017 then again in February 2018 by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC says he hasn’t provided any dates for a court appearance.
In an affidavit filed on May 7, Hov claimed he was rehearsing for a world tour in California, and therefore, couldn’t appear in court in New York.
The Iconix Brand Group is currently under investigation by the SEC for alleged federal securities law violations in their financial reporting. Iconix acquired Rocawear from JAY-Z for $200 million in 2007. He has maintained publicly-disclosed partnerships with Iconix through his former brand, according to the SEC.
Alex Spiro, JAY’s attorney, previously called the SEC investigation into Iconix a “celebrity witch hunt,” according to USA Today.
50 Cent Says Goodbye To Instagram
THE GRAM – 50 Cent has mastered the art of social media trolling but now, it appears he’ll have one less platform to use for his trolling ways. On Wednesday (May 9), the Powermastermind said he’s ditching the Instagram in favor of Twitter.
“I’m leaving IG, I’m going back to Twitter,” he captioned a photo of himself raising a glass. “They take shit down without notifying me. #censorthesenuts.”

Fiddy’s announcement comes two days after the Hip Hop mogul jokingly got into it with A$AP Rocky on the ‘Gram. After the Queens-born rapper made fun of Rocky’s designer clothes, Rocky clowned him right back.
“FIF DRESS LIKE HIM N EMINEM GOT THE SAME STYLIST,” Rocky wrote.
50 is extremely active on both platforms but for now, fans will have to find him on Twitter if they want to keep up with his latest shenanigans.

R. Kelly Videotaped Shopping With Alleged Sex Cult Victim
Shortly after Buzzfeed’s bombshell story was published, Joycelyn Savage, one of Kelly’s allegedly “brainwashed” victims revealed in a video interview with TMZ that she was not being held captive by the singer, despite her family’s beliefs.
And this week, months after her TMZ interview, Savage was spotted out shopping with R. Kelly in newly surfaced video. The shopping excursion took place at a mall in Kelly’s hometown of Chicago on April 28.
The woman doesn’t appear to be in any distress as the two casually stroll from store to store.
The latest involving R. Kelly comes following a controversial week for the crooner.
On Friday (May 4), Buzzfeed reported that two new women have come forward with accusations of sexual abuse.
Additionally, a phone call between Kelly and a woman he allegedly gave an STD to when she was 19 years old surfaced. The woman, now 20, has filed a criminal complaint against the singer.
Kelly has previously denied all allegations of misconduct.
Daz Dillinger Obliterates “Sellout” Kanye West On “True To The Game Pt. 2”
Daz Dillinger isn’t done with Kanye West. After blasting ‘Ye for his endorsement of Donald Trump earlier this month, the West Coast gangsta rap vet is back with a blatant Yeezy diss track, “True To The Game Pt. 2.”
Over the instrumental for Ice Cube’s Death Certificate track, “True To The Game,” Tha Dogg Pound rapper delivers brutal bars interspersed with audio clips of Trump, West and TMZ producer Van Lathan who famously challenged West during his “free thought” rant on TMZ Live.
“On TMZ, but they don’t care,” he raps. “They’ll have a new nigga next year/See you out in the cold, no more white fans, and no more souls/So you might have a heart attack/When you find out black folks don’t want you back.”
On Cube’s 1991 original, the N.W.A legend takes aim at rappers like Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer for being sellouts. Much like Cube, Dillinger accuses West of not staying true to the culture and giving Hip Hop a bad name.
Although Dillinger said West filed a retraining order on him following Dillinger’s “Crip Alert” on ‘Ye, it’s clear the West Coast O.G. isn’t worried about any repercussions that come with obliterating West on wax.
Bryson Tiller Blames Depression For “True To Self” LP’s Lack Of Hype
Tiller’s statement on his experience with depression came roughly one week after a back-and-forth between himself and several fans on Twitter. One fan even said the singer “fell off” musically.
According to Tiller, he was depressed before True To Self was made and it played a role in the final product for his sophomore effort.
“1. i was depressed before i made that album and you can hear it in the music 2. statistically, we didn’t do that great because of it.. and 3. depression ended in 2017 and i been workin hard ever since. stay tuned,” Tiller tweeted on Monday (May 7).
Tiller previously referenced being in a “dark place” during a December 2017 interview with Tim Westwood.
“I was in a dark, dark place after TRAPSOUL, so I don’t know, I wanted to start over and I just don’t feel like I made it yet,” Tiller said.
Despite Tiller referencing underperforming statistics, his breakthrough album TRAPSOUL only sold 22,000 copies in its first week compared to True To Self moving more than double that amount with 47,000 copies sold. True To Self also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Lil Wayne To Celebrate 10th Anniversary Of “Tha Carter III” At Lil Weezyana Fest
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Later this year, Lil Wayne will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his chart-topping album Tha Carter III at the fourth annual Lil Weezyana Fest. The event is scheduled to take place on August 25 at Champions Square’s Bold Sphere Music in his hometown of New Orleans.
Although the full lineup has yet to be released, Wayne announced the festival’s return through his Instagram account, which included a Carter III-inspired flyer.

“Lil Weezyana Fest is renowned for its all-star special guests and surprise performances. Past guests have included: Drake, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz and New Orleans natives The Hot Boys and Big Freedia. 2018’s lineup of special guests should be equally as spectacular,” a press release for the event reads.
In the decade since Tha Carter III’s initial release, it remains Wayne’s most commercially successful album. The multi-platinum LP spawned two of the biggest songs of his career: “A Milli” and “Lollipop.” Guests on the critically-acclaimed project included JAY-Z, T-Pain, Babyface and Busta Rhymes.
Lifetime Developing R. Kelly Cinema Revolving Around Sexual Abuse Claims
The multitude of sexual abuse and misconduct allegations against R. Kelly will be explored in two projects being developed by Lifetime. The network has announced a documentary series and feature film based on Kelly’s alleged offenses as part of its Emmy-winning Stop Violence Against Women campaign.
“What we’ve seen — in the last year in particular — is the tremendous power of women’s voices when given the opportunity to share their truth,” Lifetime’s SVP of Unscripted Development and Programming Brie Miranda Bryant in a statement. “But there are important stories still untold, stories of bravery, resilience and defiance that demand to be heard. This is one of those stories.”
The untitled docuseries and movie are being produced by Joel Karsberg and Jesse Daniels of Kreativ Inc.
“We’ve been working for over a year to bring forth the stories of these women,” Karsberg said in a statement. “We are proud to team with Lifetime to shed light on these stories as well as an industry that has looked the other way for so many years.”
Veteran Hip Hop journalist dream hampton will serve as an executive producer for the documentary, which will feature the stories of survivors of Kelly’s abuse.
“Some very brave black women have trusted us with their stories, their truth and their trauma,” she said in the press release. “They are survivors and I’m honored to share their stories with the world.”
No release date for either project has been set at this time. Kelly was previously portrayed by actor Clé Bennett in Lifetime’s Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B biopic, which was released in 2014.
Johnny Depp Allegedly Wilded Out On Tupac & Biggie Thriller Set
LOS ANGELES, CA – Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp has endured his fair share of unfavorable headlines over the past couple of years and his latest alleged outburst on the set of the upcoming film, Labyrinth is just adding on to the bonfire.
The movie chronicles the life and times of late LAPD detective Russell Poole, most famous for his immense interest in The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 murder.
According to Page Six, multiple sources relayed to the publication that Depp, 56, was “smoking and drinking all day on set” and attacked a location manager while screaming, “I’ll give you $100,000 to punch me right now!”
The alleged scuffle was said to have been brought forth by Depp’s willingness to keep cameras rolling after a permit expired during a scene he was directing. It involved two of his friends cast as a cop and homeless man.
“The producers kept asking for the time to be extended,” a source claimed. But when Labyrinth director Brad Furman stepped in, yelling, “Tell that to Johnny Depp!” citing the scene was a wrap, the location manager had to face the wrath of Jack Sparrow in the flesh.
“He was 6 inches away, yelling, ‘Who are you? You have no right!’” the source claimed Depp bellowed. It was then Depp was reported to attempt to punch the location manager in the ribs but the punch was so frail, it failed to inflict any damage — or pain.
Page Six obtained a statement from Furman, who dismissed the incident.
“Johnny Depp is a consummate professional, great collaborator and a supporter of other artists,” the statement read. “He always treats the crew and people around him with the utmost respect. Movies can be stressful, and nonevents often become exaggerated. We all love stories — there isn’t one here.”
Poole passed away in 2015 at the age of 58 as he was in preparing a tell-all book about everything he learned investigating the Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls murder investigations.
He was recently portrayed in USA’s miniseries Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. by acclaimed actor Jimmie Simpson.
